I need alot more info so to start why that color for an accent ? IMO bedroom decor starts with bedding so post a pic of your bedding or at least what made you choose that color and what stencil are aslikg about.

I love the color. I chose it for my bedroom and another small room in my house that is my exercise room. I love it on all 4 walls in my exercise room, but thought it was too much in my bedroom, hence why I painted it as a feature wall.

I am only updating the paint & curtains in my bedroom. The room is a north facing room. I live in SE Texas; long hot summers and I am going for a tropical theme. I am not redesigning my entire bedroom, just updating the color, since the walls were painted Toasted Almond by the builder when I purchased the house 8 years ago.

All of the furniture is a deep brown, like a Mahagony.

This sample bedroom from Behr's website is sorta what the colors will be like in Bedroom & bathroom (though my bathroom cabinets and bedroom furniture are all deep brown Mahagony).

On the website, does Behr's say what color they used on the opposite walls. It appears to go well. I like the lime green, its a happy color.

Tha’s a bold color. I would pick one of the colors SW recommends - Shell white or Roman Column.

Hi Cat_Ky, Behr didn't have the Parakeet color so I chose a different color that almost matched. I think that color is lighter than the actual color I have on the wall. Sherwin-Williams recommended SW 7009 Pearly White.

I painted the Stencil on a small piece of drywall with the Behr Floating Lily paint.

after seeing the Floating Lily stenciled on the Parakeet, it is looking white to me, and I don't really want white walls. So, I think Modern Zen on the stencil works best.

Update - I painted the stencil on the wall last night and it looks good.

Think I am going to do Chilled Wine by Behr for the other three walls and bay window. It feels tropical, it is warmer than the toasted almond beige already on the wall. Here it is on the sample wall from Behr and their coordinating palette.

I'll get the sample today. When I put the Modern Zen on the wall in bigger samples, last night it looked like lemon green and neon green - not the vibe I want. I want warm tropical colors.

So, on screen the Chilled Winelooks neutral enough that when I add color from my photographs (beach scenes & flowers) that those colors will pop. I'll get a sample today.

Am I going down the right path with the colors?

Do white bedding and window treatments.

Hi Judianna20 - Yes, exactly. My window treatments is mostly white with blue waves in them.

I have 10' ceilings (8' behind the bed). The curtains are 98", I was looking for 110" curtains, which would be a bit closer to the floor. But with the cats, I didn't want curtains pooling on the floor that they could get tangled in and would be full of fur.

I need to steam the wrinkles out.

I plan to put white sheers behind them (need to get more finials).

I hung up some 84" sheers that I had from years ago to see how they would look.

Now I'm conflicted about getting sheer panels that are 98" or staying with the 84" panels.

The wall looks great.

I wonder if a darker color curtain would look better than the bright white. Since they don't go to the floor, how about keeping them window length?

Would you put a piece of furniture in the bay?

Vermont Country Store has a good selection of curtains. I have had many over the years from them when they were called Country Curtains.

Hi Houssaon, thanks for the compliment. I got all the furniture back into the room Saturday evening. So, waking up in it on Easter morning was very peaceful. I like the white of the curtains, the way the light shines through them is ethereal.

Eventually I will have either two club chairs and a small cat tree in front of the windows, or a chaise lounge and a small cat tree (I have one cat who surveys the backyard overnight and she must sit in the windows.) So, the furniture will cover the length.

The length doesn't bother me, but all of the recommendations is that the curtains should kiss or puddle the floor. I had dark curtains before, the same color as the headboard and they were 84" - the length drove me crazy, because it didn't look right.
