My stream is finished
Comments (4)Lisa, I agree. Watching the critters and insects at the stream is so fascinating. The birds love to bathe in it and drink from it. So far I haven't seen any chipmonks drinking from it, but one of their holes is close by. The bees/wasps/hornets (whatever they are) come for their drinks too. All of my life I was terrified of them, but now I can even gently move them out of the way without fear or being stung. They love the lavender, which you can't see in these pictures, and I have to brush up against it to work on the pond. I haven't once been stung or threatened by them. There is an Anise Hyssop and a butterfly bush just the other side of the arborvite, as well as globe thistle, yarrow and bee balm. So I have lots of insects coming to visit the back yard. Even though I want to make changes, it has been so nice all week to sit out there next to the head waterfall and just listen and watch - and breathe deeply!!!! I leave for work at 4am and walk to the gate to listen for the waterfall to be sure all is well in the fishie world before I start my day. It is Friday afternoon, I'm through with work and after work work (I do scrapbooking for other people) and have a martini mixed and am headed out for the pond! WHEW!! Long hard week deserves a relaxing sit by the pond! Anne...See MoreHow can I make this TV wall look better?
Comments (69)We have a rainy day here so I've been playing....beginning to think maybe less IS more: I moved the other two prints and put them on the walls beside the FP. I am warming up to this now; maybe I was used to having four prints, and now that they are still in the room, it maintains the continuity I was used to. And......back to the chairs; a pair of these PB chairs has been hiding in the recesses of our CL: Pottery Barn Calais chair in leather They are almost brand new so not exactly a fire sale price; they are asking $500 for the pair. I think that's a little high, but assuming the price was right, do you think they would finish things off well? Or should I leave well enough alone? I'd purchase them only if they are more comfortable than what I have, and I won't know that until I see them. I can't test the link until I post, but in case it doesn't show the right one, the CL chairs are brown leather with espresso stain legs. I still really like the sconces but wonder if this is just as nice in some ways. I am now looking at my FP and wondering if the sconces would look good on either side of my mirror! But, no worries, that will have to wait for another day, lol!...See MoreNew TV shows vs Old TV shows
Comments (23)Jasdip, I just have a cheap inside antenna. Some of my friends in the county pick up more stations than I do. I also can't pick up our local ctv station in my living room which I find strange but when I had a television in the bedroom I used to be able to get it a 5 am. I got rid of cable in 2004, my neighbour bought me the analog box and the antenna years before the stations changed and set it up for me. I couldn't believe the all the new stations that appeared. I am in a good location. I am always scanning for new stations. I get better reception and more stations than some of the people i know who are paying for cable or digital and they don't get any of the local Detroit stations. I just think of all that money I didn't give to the cable company haha it now goes to Bell for my internet...See MoreDo you have a big screen TV? And cable television?
Comments (63)Do you use it frequently? We use ours daily. We wake up to the news and I come home for lunch M-F and tune into shows during that time. We also watch TV at night, especially before bed. Do you spend the big bucks on cable for the TV and not watch it very often? Yes, and I feel ripped off with Directv. Also do you fight over it with your SO? No. We have multiple TVs so if we disagree on a show then I just watch in a different room. Our house isn't that big and it's just me and the hubby. We have a 54" in our living room and I don't consider that very big anymore. When we replace it someday we'll go to 65-70". Our living room is open to the kitchen and I have to squint to see the guide on my 54" so bigger is needed lol. In our bedroom I think we have a 46" ?? It's not very far from our bed so it's plenty big. And in the basement we have around a 50" but we never go down there. Our TVs are older but get the job done. It's so hard for me to spend money on an item when I have something that already works. So I just wait until things break. I'm down to my last working HDMI port on the living room TV so once that one goes then I'll cheerfully buy a new 65-70"......See MoreOllieJane
