Moving out but Landlord is being obnoxious
Comments (1)My suggestion is to just move out as fast as possible (obviously). He probably freaked out b/c the new dog is a dobe. A breed that (undeserved or not) has a bad reputation. This breed is often banned in apartments. Maybe it has something to do with his insurance that won't allow dobes. Although I would have expected him to mention this by now. Personally I would have let the landlord know before I got a new dog. You are NOT obligated to show the apartment to new potential renters. You should not be responsible for setting up showings either. If you have not broken the lease, he will just have to wait until you are out of the apt. (unless the lease says otherwise?) I would have made a police report when you found your doors open and unlocked. When you get to the walk through, take pictures! video record it if you can, hold up the day's newspaper in the frame. This landlord sounds like he may get picky. I'd record it while he is there so you can get him on camera saying everthing is ok (or what needs to be repaired /payed for.)...See MoreHelp! How to make awkward TV wall less awkward.
Comments (28)I would center the TV between the edge of the open door and the thermostat and mount it on the wall. Then I would hang a piece of vertically oriented art (about 20" wide x 36" deep to the left of the TV, centered between it and the closed door. The open door would cover the art, but it wouldn't be open all the time, so that would balance the TV. Alternatively, you could mount a board with some hooks to hang coats, purses, etc. on as you enter the house. I don't see a coat closet, so that would be handy. I also noticed the art on the side wall looks too big for the space. What if you hang it to the left of the front window? The wall looks a little wider there. Then you could get something smaller for where you took it down....See MoreWhat to do about awkward window in the corner of the kitchen
Comments (25)if the two left hand windows remain operative?double hungs? maybe place the shelves on the far right mostly as a small feature. in the wall areas between windows you can place some directional sconces/ tile/ to continue w a visual focus approach. RE the cabinet above the drawers ? awkward per your scrutiny? do be aware of ways that you can vary a wall cab situation.... UP-lift style cabinets..... open cabinet without doors but matching interior....glass doored cab....reduced depth wall cab...ETC. I could see a great looking stylish faucet w some wall sconces w directional arms in a beautiful metal...then tile on the bit of wall areas and the couple floating shelves to the side. Dont think the wall cabinet on the side would be a focus so much when you look at all the other detail areas in your space....See MoreDesperately seeking suggestions for awkward corner nook!
Comments (73)Apologies if this has already been said but I don't have time to read all comments. I had a living room that was similiarly awkward and it took me so long to find a good furniture placement. Bear with me. While I can't see the rest of the living room, I suggest arranging the living room furniture with the end of that stone wall (fireplace I assume?) as if it were the wall. So in other words the rug would stop where or near where the fireplace ends. What makes that lovely space awkward is that it looks as if it's trying to be part of the living room. My suggestion would be, after you move the rug, switch the table and chair. Table under painting, chair in a "room with a view." It becomes a destination, a resting spot, a lovely special corner for retreat. At that point you have created an entrance area for the living room, possibly a gallery effect on the wall. Add a lamp to the table below the picture to make it a a real statement piece, which it is! Maybe some lighting in window area. Then you play with placement of things in the corner that draws the eye and gives people an opportunity to say, what's the story behind those skis? P.S. What a view out that window!!...See MoreBuehl
