A sage green would look nice with your cabinets

Thank you for this graphic. I removed the old rug. It was very dark and traditional. All that is left is the rug pad in the pic because my dog couldn’t jump up to the couch with the bare floor lol. Old rug was 9x 12 the rug pad was a little smaller. We put it in the basement and it fits better there. Anyway I am open to buying anything. But paint is first priority.

The rug should be your first priority. The wall color comes from a color you pick in the rug. Not paint and then pick the rug.

First it is wall color, all décor is secondary thing. I would go with the same color for entire house. May be some warm off-white.

I painted my hallway several years ago a color I like figuring I could get a runner to coordinate. I couldn't. I bought a runner I liked and after a couple of years repainted the hall. I think you should start with a rug, unless you go with a white of off white. But starting with a rug will make the process a lot easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you all. I pretty much feel like the kitchen elements are dictating the show because I am not changing them anytime soon. The kitchen shares a wall with the family room so the color has to satisfy both. I should have mentioned that in my first post. I have natural linen being painted from the upstairs hallway and foyer area and so far that color looks awesome. However I am Leary that this color will be too light for this room. We have 9 ft ceilings and very bright late afternoon sunshine in the family room. Its very dark any other time. I am partial to beige and taupes. Would those colors work here? And for those who have strong opinions about the rug. Would you go light or dark?

Will the area painted Natural Linen be visible from these rooms?

Natural linen will be visible on one wall only….from the foyer to the hallway that enters the kitchen …there is a Small swatch of natural linen it on the wall ( under another swatch of aesthetic white which is not working) this house was painted professionally right before the previous owners sold it to us. You can see the connection with all different colors here. The hallway travels to the foyer and up the stairs to the upstairs hall. Natural linen looks great on those walls. East facing. Kitchen is northwest and only gets good light in afternoon. I just took this pic on a cloudy morning.

I’m not a designer, but this article lists some colors that go with Natural Linen. It says that Accessible Beige is very similar but slightly darker. Have you looked at Accessible Beige?
