I am looking for ideas to revamp these shelves. I don’t have budget to completely remove it but may be do some chalk paint and remove the bottom shelf, it’s adjustable.
We usually use this area to display during special holidays and festivals.

This is our small family room, with access to boot closet and backyard. The other side of it( where I am taking the picture from) is open kitchen.
Right now, as you can see it’s just a spot to keep some books- since we already have many other book shelves in other rooms, we hardly see these shelves.

So, these are not really functional but a good spot for display during festivals and holidays.

Any suggestions what can I do to make those brown shelves look modern and neat?
What kind of decor can I keep there?
