Furniture Design Dilemma Windows

color help, please!

We’ve been living with paper blinds for a year. The blue bedroom is mine. The gold dining room ( not mine) pic is what I’d like to do with my windows. I want to “enlarge” both windows by mounting the treatments as high as the window on the left will allow. The Roman shade will be opaque to help with the illusion. The bed skirt will be exchanged for a white one.

My question: colors! I love velvets & raw silk. I’m also currently looking for a chair and ottoman to go in front of the windows. What colors would you suggest?
1.) Drapes
2.) Roman shades
3.) Chair & ottoman

Beautiful room and view. Look for a medium to medium dark blue in the same tone as your walls. Or repaint if necessary.

Will the treatments be custom made? If so, you have a very large choice of colors from your drapery shop. As for silk vs. velvet, consider the sun direction: it will rot the silk faster than the velvet. The lining and interlining will be critical.

I like your idea to go with drapes as high as possible. Some option to go with white drapes and bamboo shades . They would go great with your armoire and bed skirt.

I actually love the white doors but my husband thinks it's a bad idea with four little kids. We do have a ton of windows, 10 foot ceilings etc... but in our old home, we didn't have as much light and I did like the gauntlet gray doors. I don't think I can get him to agree to Dover white for doors so I need something! I'm at the paint store and I'm seeing what you are both talking about with the dovetail... I pulled Acier and that might be an option...

Aside from your paint, have you noticed your cone shaped trees are fighting with the architecture of your home? Have your landscaper reshape the trees. It's will look terrible for a short time but better long term. I'd also consider replacing the fountain, or just using part of the existing fountain to create a more subdued water feature

Going to suggest your choices are too light. Pale Oak is a great color for north light, but I think it is going to show pink. I like this one, B.M. Solitude. Strong enough to work with the brass and perfect with the art. North rooms often need a darker paint color because you will be turning on the lights most of the time. But if you are looking at a different tone altogether, then my suggestion would be Revere Pewter. I have it in a north room, but it has lots of windows.

French country on the beach: this treatment...a bit less formal than your inspiration picture.

I saw the best chair on the Apartment Therapy blog and it is from Target, of all places. I'll see if I can find it.

I would just do sheers with a simple shade if you want it for privacy/climate control.
