Paint Home Decorating Design Dilemma

Interior color help please! What color to paint doors?

I have the following Sherwin Williams colors picked out for my new construction-

Agreeable Gray- main color throughout open living space including kitchen, family room, halls etc

Mindful Gray- dining room, will only be the top half as we have 63" judges panel painted in Dover White

North Star- master bedroom

Dover white- all trim including two=story foyer with floor to ceiling judges panel

I need to choose a color to paint the interior doors and I'm leaning toward to Dovetail. Any other ideas?

ETA- hardwood floors throughout are white oak and will be stained on the darker side

I agree with Barnes above. I just took a pic of them on my fan deck -

I see you just mentioned Gauntlet; for others, it's the darker gray below Dovetail. Your house must have wonderful light to want to use such dark colors on your doors. I'd personally (and have) in my house painted the doors and trim the same color, a custom creamy white from SW.

But I love Traditional style, which you may not.

I would do the Dover white for the doors. Next to the dovetail, the dover white looks a lot more creamy to me. I don't think it looks great. (I'm only looking at a paint deck however)

My husband doesn't want white doors but if we were doing white doors, then we would definitely use the dover white. Dovetail is a dark warm gray... you don't think it looks good next to dover white?

I just wanted to update my post with a final decision. They pressed us for a stain choice two months ago and they JUST STAINED IT ON THURSDAY! How's that for urgency? Anyway, after much thought and consideration we went with Minwax Walnut gel stain for the front door. Thanks to all who offered thoughts and opinions. I think it turned out beautiful. Here are a few pics as I know that's what we all REALLY want to see... :-)

Since you already used BM paint check out Vellum, Barley, Chestertown Buff, or Concord Ivory for your LR. For your den Tate Olive (darker next to Louisburg Green). If you go red try Ellen Kennon's Berry Red. Amazing red!If you cant do that then BM Raspberry Truffle is a good red. If you use red in the den just be sure you carry the red to the other rooms as accents. I would go for a lighter version of the LR yellow in the kitchen. Like one or two up on the same strip. Or get the paint mixed at 50% lighter. Just some suggestions. I am not a paint expert. I have a few paint dramas of my own going on. LOL.

I like the idea of a black door, to match your shutters. You already have additional color in your cushions, and can also add colors with seasonal flowers. Make sure when you paint your door to also paint that raised oval trim around the glass insert.

When I put the swatches next to each other no, I didn't love them together. But again, in a larger setting in different lighting they may look great. I'm at a desk with a paint deck. ;)

hmmm.... what about gaunlet gray? our last home had those for doors and amazing gray walls with dover white trim but i was thinking gauntlet gray was a bit on the cool side for the grays in my new house

I actually love the white doors but my husband thinks it's a bad idea with four little kids. We do have a ton of windows, 10 foot ceilings etc... but in our old home, we didn't have as much light and I did like the gauntlet gray doors. I don't think I can get him to agree to Dover white for doors so I need something! I'm at the paint store and I'm seeing what you are both talking about with the dovetail... I pulled Acier and that might be an option...

It's hard to tell with swatches. I've already spent nearly $70 on color samples!

Don't forget to look at the door color with the wall colors too. (assuming there are doors in those areas)

I am- I think Agreeable Gray looks good with Acier and dovetail... thinking gauntlet gray is too dark now...

I think I like Acier, too. I just got a sample and will take it to compare to my samples of everything else and will report back with pictures. Thank you so much for the advice- I think it was spot on
