What paint color should I choose for this bedroom with lots of wood?
The room is enormous with oak floors and the wood ceiling on one side with dark wood trim all around (we can't paint all of it), so we are not going to fight the lodge-like feel. It gets mostly northern/eastern light, so we'd like a warm neutral, but it also gets western sun late in the day through a glass block wall. We will probably put down oriental rugs and use some greens/blues in the textiles. We are sort of attracted to neutrals that have a slight orange to yellow cast and thinking somewhat mid-tone to avoid too much contrast between the wood ceiling and floor. Any suggestions on paint color?

2 years agoDo you have a few more pictures of different angles of the room and also the furniture you plan to use in the room?
Green nearly always works with wood floors and trim. But it is hard to say with just what you've shown what green I'd suggest.
Here are some options you could look at - these all play well with wood.
I'm partial to the Sage Leaf colour - or if that feels too dark you could find a lighter tone of that shade.

If greys are more your style then there are warm greys that will work as well - think greige more than grey.
warm grey paint benjamin moore - Google Search · More InfoEither get some paint pot samples and try them on several patches of wall (prime it white first) or put it on some poster board etc and move it around the room. You need to see it in the light, near windows, in the day and at night to determine if the colour works well for your surroundings.

Comments (4)Okay, thanks! I have one son that wants his room his old room color, BM Cumulus Cloud. Unfortunately the granite in his bath is quite a bit more "yellowy" than Cumulus Cloud. The other advantage to the 2nd layout in BR1 is that the headboard is rather high and if I put it along the wall, it won't block the windows which would probably be better. I'll see about adding seating when I get the beds assembled. We may have room and it would give me a project to scour antique shops. That is what I'm planning on doing for a nightstand in the second bedroom. A little shabby/chic, beachy. I was going to look through some "Real Simple" magazines for inspiration. I'm not sure exactly what I want yet, but I though a "weathered" table, perhaps in a fun color, would go nicely with the iron bed. ajsmama, Thank you for the suggestion on BR1. I agree that swaping the nightstand is much better. On BR2, I think I could move the dresser closer to the door. The only think I actually don't like about the dresser in that position in general is that I'm not fond of the look of it from the side, but no mater how far forward or backward it is, I'm going to have that problem... Comments (11)Hi Patricia. I love the color. I chose it for my bedroom and another small room in my house that is my exercise room. I love it on all 4 walls in my exercise room, but thought it was too much in my bedroom, hence why I painted it as a feature wall. Here is the stencil I am only updating the paint & curtains in my bedroom. The room is a north facing room. I live in SE Texas; long hot summers and I am going for a tropical theme. I am not redesigning my entire bedroom, just updating the color, since the walls were painted Toasted Almond by the builder when I purchased the house 8 years ago.
