Should bedroom paint color be the same as adj. bath paint color?

Hello All! I'm building a house and generally post over at the building or kitchen forums. I have a question that I'd love to hear from the decorating pros on, please: All of our bedrooms have adjoining, private baths. Should the paint wall color match in both rooms, since they are connected, or is it fine to have the bedroom one color and the bathroom a different color? For my master it won't be hard to choose one color for both, but for my kids' rooms and baths, that may be a little challenging! Thanks for any advice!

My master bath and bedroom get different natural lighting so I didn't use the same color for the walls (bath is very bright; bedroom much less so). However, I used neutral paint colors and I coordinate decor colors.

Its nice if the colors "go" together, but they need not match.

Thanks! Great ideas here, as usual. Cbusmomof3, love your daughter's room - such light and airy colors! Yes, I think for the boys baths, the beige is just the easiest and most versatile when it comes to shower curtains, towel color, etc. Since the granite is gallo ornamental, I think a neutral color would also just suite the room best. Now for my master, I do think they will be the same color. NOTE - my youngest son wants a Star Wars room and he wants it to be blue. I think it'll be fine to have a blue bedroom and then a beige adjoining bath. Now to pick all the paint colors..! :) I'm such a Benjamin Moore girl, and my builder will only use Sherwin Williams. Hopefully they can color match well! Many thanks!

I think you could, but in our ceiling like that, we painted the 45 angles the same color as the vertical walls, and put the white only on the middle horizontal line of the room. It was shocking at how different the room felt. It was like someone finally got the combo just right. We had a light green walls, with only the white on the horizontal of the ceiling... The room felt so much larger! So you might consider that. In your case, if you want to do something different?? just put the blue on the horizontal line of the ceiling and put the white on the walls and 45 degree angle surfaces. Blue ceiling are soooo coool! And ....ne'er a spider will make a web there, really! It is crazy but true.

Continuing the edge combe grey into the bedroom and bath would give you a brighter room and a neutral backdrop to tie the spaces together. Then your art and linens would add the color which you could easily change. You could pick a shade darker off the paint chip if you didnt want the hall, bath and bedroom all the exact same grey. Do use bright or saturated hues in decor if you paint the walls all neutral.

The horizontal plane sometimes comes off darker than walls. You may want to test first, but it’s doable since no trim.

But, if you really WANT them matched, that's fine too.

Okay, thanks! I have one son that wants his room his old room color, BM Cumulus Cloud. Unfortunately the granite in his bath is quite a bit more "yellowy" than Cumulus Cloud. Gallo Venizio or something... Hmmm... two shades of greige/beige okay? Just think it would look odd to paint a bath with cherry cabinets and a yellow-toned granite BLUE, but that's what he wants! Oh well...
