Best buddies from the day they met as kittens...never a "cross-word" between them. :)

Us celebrating 50 years of love...actually it was 51 years as we got married exactly 1 year after our first date. Our love now has lasted 63 1/2 years.

I should have saved this one for today....

It must've been love.

We got married in January, 1966. A few months later we bought our first place which had been a dairy farm. This water trough was my first water garden. We stayed there 30 years, sold it and moved to the bayou. Jody moved the trough for me to the place on the bayou. We stayed there 23 years. Jody was terminally ill and had to retire. We moved to east Texas, and even so, he moved this trough for me again...along with 3 other old concrete troughs that I had collected over the years. Here he is leveling it front of the barn here.

I have had several offers, people wanting to buy this place, and I might sell it because it is hard for me to keep it up, but no one to move my troughs. Especially this big one.

Marilyn, the things Jody did for you showed true love. Not many men would have taken that on. Glad you have wonderful memories.

Marilyn, if you did sell your place, where would you go and what would you do? Your animals and water lilies have always been what you love.

linda and satine. I am not going to sell this place unless something very unforeseen came to pass. If I did, I would find a place in the same area, with room for my horses and waterlilies. I haven't raised waterlilies in ponds in about 25 years. I raise them in above ground tanks. Jody wanted me to have this place because it is set up for horses....it was an Arabian horse breeding farm. It has a 12 stall barn with vet area, including stock, office with bathroom and washer/dryer hookups, tack room and feed room. However, I don't use much of the barn...my horses stay out in the pasture most of the time, except the two oldest. Also this place was built 40 yrs ago. So it needs a lot of upkeep. It came with a 1984 house trailer. We planned to build a house. We did build a new barn on a concrete slab, but Jody got worse and died before we could build a house. I am planning on turning the new barn into a small house. I wish we had bought a place with a livable house and less barn, and better fences, but when our place sold, everything moved so quickly, and this was the only place I had been looking at that hadn't sold. I like a lot of things about this place, so I do plan to stay here. I will never sell my horses. I will put them down before I would do that. I will raise waterlilies as long as I live.
