Talk to me about Oklahoma, please!
Comments (20)I have two Oklahomas which I've had for three years now. I both love them and hate them. The fragrance is amazing, the blooms are huge and velvety, and when they are young they are a lovely red to burgundy color. However, the blooms fade VERY quickly into that terrible magenta, they also don't last long in general, so they are not a good cut flower. My plants also refuse to bush out, but rather grow tall, thick-stemmed and straight. The one in full sun is about six feet tall now. But they do seem to be vigorous for me anyway, and they bounce back quickly from heavy pruning (which I do prune them down in the winter because I don't want them to become enormous). The climate where I live is much cooler than where you are, but it does rain continuously for about 9 months out of the year, and the Oklahomas don't seem to mind it. They also seem to be blackspot resistant at least in my garden, even though neighboring plants have gotten blackspot. So there's pros and cons. Overall I like them enough that I won't get rid of them, but I do prefer the longer-lasting blooms on a bushier plant, and had I known more about Oklahoma before I planted them I probably would have chosen something else. Repeat bloom on mine is pretty quick though, as long as I keep up with cutting off spent flowers....See MoreTalk to me about apps, please.
Comments (47)Raven, these are the sorts of things I've been reading about about SwiftKey. I wonder if the problem is specific to the N7....? I was going to buy the $3.99 version 3 for tablets. Please fix the issue of erasing on tablets (tf300). When pressing the back key to erase the app goes crazy and starts retyping whatever was typed last. This makes the app almost useless since the smallest of mistakes can not be corrected unless by changing back to the Asus keyboard. Solid 5 stars when an update fixes this. The space and backspace doesn't function at certain times on my nexus 7. It's very frustrating. I understand this problem has been stated. I'll be disabling swiftkey until it's fixed. This was the first purchase I made on my Nexus 7 and I have updated everything but this will not take. Brought it to dev friends to see if I am a moron, good news is I am not, bad news is It still doesn't work. Any direction would be greatly appreciated....See MoreTalk to me about bedding, please
Comments (24)I also have the St. Dormeir wool pad. You can wash it (though I haven't yet), but it would not protect the mattress from seepage if a kid has an accident. As far as pillows, they are the hardest thing to recommend to someone else because preferences vary so greatly. When we bought our latex mattress, I tested the various latex pillows at the store and could not find one with the right loft. I ended up with a shredded latex pillow, which worked well for me because I could remove the amount of latex necessary to make the pillow work for me. I now love it so much I bought one for my mom, since I was sure she'd love it, too. And she could not have hated it more. So now I have 2 nice shredded latex pillows! My recommendation for pillows is to go to a good bedding store and try them all out. Listening to people's recommendations online is likely to result in your spending good money on something that doesn't work for you....See MorePlease Talk to Me about your BlueStar!!
Comments (12)I have the 48" RNB and absolutely love it! It has been about 18 months. Configuration is 6 burners and grill. In retrospect, I kind of wish I would have gotten the built in griddle instead. At decision time I went with the idea that I could always turn burners into a griddle with an overlay, but could not create a grill out of the burners. So far, I have not used the grill all that much.... in part because I find it a little underpowered, but also because of the big surprise of how amazing the broiler is! Holy cow, this was not even on my radar, but I use it ALL THE TIME, though wish it had more surface area. Other surprise is how little I use the large oven due to the fact that the small oven is pretty good sized. The half size commercial baking sheets fit perfectly and it heats quickly so mostly just use the large oven on holidays. Cleaning is super easy, the grates will patina, but mine always look fine. I just rub oil into the cast iron and periodically give them a scrubbing with a damp dish sponge and replace the aluminum foil in the drip pans every few months. Wokking is awesome, love taking off the burner grate and just dropping the wok on top of the flame. Searing meats and vegetables is whole different game now too. And did I mention the broiler? ;-) It does amazing with steak and chicken breasts. I even use it to put a nice crust on a slow roasted corned beef. It is a simple and powerful workhouse and does take some getting used to. The burners are far more powerful than the Viking 15K BTU closed burner range top that came with my house. You mentioned your vent system, so good that you thought of that, don't forget to consider make up air if you have not already done so. Happy to answer any specific questions....See More- 8 days ago
