I assume you mean above the cabinets, with the backsplash staying white? Older advice is always to go with blues and greens against the red/orange of the oak, but I say the opposite is true.  I would stay away from cool or washed-out tones like greys and even beiges, and look for bolder and warmer choices.  Even a black could work!  Pinkett is great for this: do a search for "oak cabinets wall colour" or something like that.  Paint is cheap!  Experiential.  I believe there is a company that sells big squares from any paint manufacturer.

Even just creamy white, but with plants/greenery up there!  Something to pop out, as your poinsettias do now.

I still like the blues, greens, aqua's in a kitchen with wood cabinets the color of yours. It brightens up the kitchen a lot. Darker colors do go very well, but, unless you have a very bright kitchen with a lot of windows, you could end up having a kitchen that is like a cave. White, of course is always a safe choice, and is used by everyone these days, for all rooms. That would not be my choice.

I agree with a soft warm creamy color with oak. Very light. I don’t care what Pinterest says, gray is yesterday.

If that were my kitchen I’d remove that wine rack and replace with real storage. Everybody needs more storage.

Your kitchen is so lovely! I really like your cabs. I think the wine rack adds so much to the aesthetic, but get that it is probably not the best use of the space. rather than getting rid of it, I wonder if the curves could be cut straight by a carpenter and the space used as plate storage. Maybe keep 2 as wine storage.

A new slide in range, hood, counters and undermount sink, and that would be one chic little kitchen. I'm a fan of white walls, but I think because of the off white counter and range, your white walls aren't quite working. Can you post more pics of the rest of the kitchen to see what other walls there are that would be painted?

Here are the surrounding walls in the kitchen . We have a higher ceilling and very old school light fixtures as well . I am hesitating to embrace the old school colors because the rest of my furnitures are hand me downs from our grandparents. Or I should try to upgrade it. I Have seen that there might be a comeback of wood finishes...

All walls in the house are white now, but yellowed with time . 🙈

I would go for a bit of a retro vibe. Love that light fixture. Maybe aqua walls, and red and yellow accessories. Could be a very cool kitchen. I see you already like red too.

I'm tempted to add the curtains in dark blue like what Jenn suggested. It can be beautiful. 😄 And consider changing the countertop in white quartz.
