Update - honey oak kitchen cabinets are painted!
Comments (55)Thanks so much, catmom, arcy, purrus, nini, and lisa! They did the real estate photos yesterday and after some light staging I think the house looked amazing. We just edited out a few more things from the counter and added some decor items. We brought in a bistro table and stools to take the place of the sideboard that was moved to the great room. I also used the floating shelf I just had made for over the tub and used it for the blank space over the sofa instead. I convinced DH to hang it as part of a compromise in which he did not have to move and rehang the heavy wall clock :) These are just a few cell phone pics but I can't wait to see the professional photos!...See MoreAnyone else not mind their honey oak kitchen cabinets?
Comments (36)Eversebz We plan on painting the kitchen walls white ( BM Simply White ) along with the rest of our home 😊 But yes, I agree if we weren’t , white subway tile might make the walls look dingy...See MoreIn need of a Kitchen paint color with honey oak cabinets
Comments (3)Since there is so little wall I would just paint it off white. If you are going to paint, this is a good time to replace those light fixtures with some unobtrusive led fixtures and freshen the ceiling. And do take down the window treament, if you need privacy there let's find a nice simple privacy shade without scallops....See MoreI want to paint my honey oak kitchen cabinets either a cream or gray .
Comments (17)I have an oak kitchen that I also find drab. Much easier to do a cool backsplash or counter or flooring than to go to the trouble of paining cabinets that were not meant to be painted. Tons of work, and the paint color will eventually become dated and the new owners will either want to rip out or refresh. So not a good investment of time and effort, IMHO. Read up on toning down oak, lots of suggestions. A cool backsplash would draw in the eye and snazz it up much easier, I think. But if you really want to paint, paint away. But I'm not a fan of sad grey kitchens no matter how "warm" the grey, it is mud and rain. White or cream, IMHO. Or go for a color you love, and figure "après moi, le déluge" as far as how it looks to potential buyers. A lot of folks tear stuff out no matter what, to put their taste stamp on things . . ....See Moreheartmom2015
