Need advice on color of bar and Tv Cabinets and wall color

We're redoing our basement family room/bar area and would like advice on what type and color cabinets to add behind the bar? We want to do 3 base cabinets along the wall and under the window. And then to the left of the window add a small cabinet with glass door and to the right of the window add a small but larger than the other wall cabinet with also a glass door to display glasses. We plan to do some sort of granite counter top along the base cabinets. We will build in a refrigerator in the Left corner and a microwave. The granite counter top with start near the exterior door and do down past the large window wall.

Here's a photo of the rest of the bar area to get an idea of what we already have and to help decide what kind of cabinets we should finish it off with.

We also want to build the TV in the sitting area with the same cabinet that we use in the bar area.

Planning to paint the bar area and this wall this shade of sage green. and the rest of the basement a lighter shade of green called ancient marble. Got part of wall done to test the color before we continue. I'm having anxiety over this new color that I've already bought all the paint for. I love the greens. I've used them in my master bedroom and bath, but not sure I like it better than the gold that we have now in the basement.

Opinions please.

Looking for ideas.

I originally thought I'd do the cabinets in the same wood as the bar but now am thinking to add color and interest to possible do an aged white/ivory cabinet with burnt sienna hightlight or something similar.

Looking for any suggestions or ideas...

Such a nice, bright space. I like the sage green on the one wall you show, but I wonder if it will be too much green if it was painted on all the walls.

You have a lot of nice woods in the room and it would be nice to keep with the wood tone of the bar and adjacent console. It doesn't have to match, but by keeping it in the same family, I think it will be more cohesive than introducing painted cabinetry.

You might be able to achieve cohesiveness with painted cabinetry if you mimicked painted wood pieces in the sofa area.

I'm not a pro, so not sure, just my opinion.

Are you committed to keeping that tv stand? Because a) it looks a little top-heavy with the size of the tv you have and b) a different stand could take up more room and leave the wall looking a little less bare. I like a tv console that is twice the width of the tv set it supports. If that were my room, I'd move the cat stand to in front of the window and put a large tree between the window and the tv. Then I'd get a floor lamp with more presence to replace the one that's there, and add crown molding to the entire room and call it done. Or put a low bookcase or chest or cabinet where the floor lamp is now, and put a lamp on top of that. The key thing is not to clutter up the tv wall so much that you get distracted when watching tv.

In order to brighten things up, look at the off whites. They look like colors on the little sample cards, but when painted on the wall, often look more like a pale color than a white. I'd go all the way up to the lightest colors. I really don't see how you can go wrong, your choices so far are so neutral. I think you could go warmer, or cooler, and it would make sense. In order to brighten up the space, I would do these things: -think about shiny, beefy drawer pulls/knobs, like polished nickel -think about maybe glass subway tile (or other pattern), or even a metallic tile. Something that reflects light. -make sure your lighting is excellent in every regard: overhead, undercabinet, pendant work lights. That will really help.

Are you wanting just a TV console, or a large entertainment unit? This area could definitely take a big unit ... with the high ceilings, lots of windows, strong fireplace, etc. What is your style? You said you’re buying this house, so I’m assuming this isn’t your furniture? Some various styles of units, just to give an idea: A couple of consoles. I have no idea your preferred styles, colors, etc, so just throwing some ideas out here. :)

Check out Ikea Besta you can literally configure it to be totally custom for what you need I would still hang the TV but T the proper height so that the center of the screen is at eye level when you are seated.These are just a couple of ideas of how it can be configured

Where does the green come from? It's hard to see the colors in the rug or the paisley fabric, but I'm not seeing any green there.

The bar is so dark, I would stick with dark cabinetry too so it's more cohesive. I would also want a dark surround for the tv so it blends in better.

Thanks dilly.. I appreciate your input immensely. If I do the white cabinets, I am planning to mimick the cabinetry for the Bigger Tv in the family room area. Tough decision. I really want to do something different with the white and fear more dark wood will make the room feel even darker. But I do realize that the dark cabinetry is the safest choice.

I've attached another photo to show you the sage in the couches and the rug. Hopefully this will show you the colors. Also thanks for the suggestion about the dark wood around the tv. I'll have to give that some thought. Hadn't thought of that.

I would not do the white/cream for the cabinets. Choose a compatible wood tone, it doesn't have to match what's already there.
I don't spend a lot of time on Houzz, but today I looked at two articles that might be relevant. One featured a very small apartment furnished with dark colors--doesn't need to make the rooms feel smaller. The other featured painting interior doors black. I think your doors at the end of your room would look great in black. It would tie in with the iron legs on your tables and the two tvs. It would also set off the view out of those doors.

A vote for darker cabinets BUT also a vote for painting the trim around the window (over the bar) in the same black to make it blend into the whole wall ..... you may need to add additional lighting into the new cabinetry ... especially in the cabinet that will hold the glassware .... maybe add dimmer switches to control the lighting?

Perhaps consider a slightly deeper green tone that would balance out the deep tones in the rest of the room?

I'm definitely going to rethink the white cabinets. You guys make some great points.

I always run things by this board before making changes. I really appreciate the help.

Tea cats.. Love the green. I'll have to find a real sample so that I can see the color. I'm hoping it's similar to what I have. The wall color is darker than it appears on the computer.

If I change my mind and use a different green than I already have, I can use it in my master bed and bath. So I don't have a problem with changing the color.
