The original fan you ordered is about 10" deep to the bottom of the light and most hugger fan will be that depth. I doubt the new choices you picked will have much air movement and if they do it will be loud because of the smaller blade. Do you have shorter than normal ceiling height or do you have exceptionally tall people in the house? If not then you are just suffering from décor shock. Something new in a room you eye goes to first that looks out of place-for the time being- till you get used to it. Sometimes you have to deal with function over design.

Thanks for the help, Lorraine! The upstairs ceilings are only 7' tall so with a 10.5" fixture it is literally at the top of my 6'3" tall husband's head, LOL. I added photo to my original post to give a little context.

My suggestion: buy fan only for ceiling; buy lamps for lighting the room. Your electrician is right about the lumens....you want Daylight bulbs at least 4000lumens on three-way lamps.

I would stick with a flushmount light fixture and get a good stand fan. With ceilings that low, all overheads will be a problem.

Fan blades should not be lower than 80 inches from the floor so look for flush mount lights and consider a wall mounted fan

Thank you all so much for the input, I so appreciate it! I am leaning towards getting flush mount lights; do you have any good recommendations for sourcing flush mounts with the right amount of bulbs/lumens? I love the fixtures from Schoolhouse, CB2, West Elm, etc. but most of those appear to be single bulb fixtures or to not have nearly enough lumens for our rooms.

Ok lets recap

1. you said you really didn't need that much light at night, but your last comment says you do.

In a small room like this one light bulb is plenty, everyone is so misled by lumens, wattage etc just remember most single-socket fixtures will house 60-100wtt equivalent

2. you said you wanted to stay true to the style of the home but the fan you selected is much more modern than the home, and ceiling fans would really not have been an option then. I also find a floor or table fan to be just as useful in a room this size.

3. You have a lot going on so it is ok to be overwhelmed, bear in mind it is just two ceiling fixtures you are focused on.

I think you should look at getting a floor or table fan and a simple flush mount for the ceilings.

I like vintage flush mounts with interesting glass shades. If you find a single center hole shade you like, you can put that on a flush mount light with a singe rod for the shade. Some of the bigger bases are three bulb fittings so you get a reasonable quantity and distribution of light.  You don't want too much lighting from a single center fixture because the shadows are distracting. Talk to the electrician about adding wall sconces for additional lighting. If you have attic space overhead and circuit capacity, he can run wire in the attic and drop it down inside the stud cavities in interior walls for extra fixtures. Depending on wiring layout they can be run on the main switch or aways on with pull chain or wireless switches.

You're right, I am sorry, I am not being very clear! So my thought (per my electrician) was that a single-bulb fixture wouldn't be able to kick out 3,000-4,000 lumens, which is what he said each of these bedrooms needs. We haven't had that many lumens to date in the bedrooms with the existing fixtures so I was thinking that we could get away with fewer - say, 1,000 - 2,000 lumens per fixture - but that might not be correct and/or I would hate to install fixtures that aren't going to give us enough light. The fixtures you showed me are nice and I really do appreciate you pointing out some ideas as well as some good suppliers!
