I am about to kill my cabinet maker!!! (rant inside)
Comments (16)Thanks again everyone :) He did come back after dinner, 2 hours but who's keeping track? (oh yeah, ME!!!) I'm just happy that progress has been made, the island is at least in place and he plans on scribing it in tomorrow morning, the dishwasher opening has been corrected, and half of the drawers are installed. There is still alot to be done before Wednesday but he says he will be back in the morning so I am hopeful. Sue~ I am focused on what has to be done before the counters need to be installed, I was just ranting about what all needs to be done before it is finished...but thanks for the suggestion because sometimes I do need people to help me see the forrest through the trees :) Desertsteph~ Sometimes I think people underestimate just how stressed out a mother of two young boys can be, there are days that I would feel bad for anyone that had to deal with my breaking point, lol. Florantha~ You are so right about men responding better to men than women. That is a lesson I learned when our addition was put on and I dealt with a contractor who wouldn't let me make the call on any decisions (we aren't using him now, thankfully), he would ask me a question and I would answer him and he would say to me "ya, I think I'm going to call your husband and make sure." It would drive me insane!...See Morehelp! cabinet hardware - am I using too many different sizes?
Comments (19)Many people here have used a variety of sizes, styles, and finishes in their kitchens. Look through the FKB and try to stay focused on the cab hardware (I always get distracted and forget what I originally started out looking for). I love Sabjimata's kitchen. Although she didn't provide a link to her kitchen and hardware above, I hope she won't mind if I do. Look around not only the details page I've linked to, but the before & after pics so you can study where she used each kind of hardware. Don't let your GC bully you into using all one style, size, and finish. It makes it easier for him and is what's done by the majority--that doesn't make it the best solution. Do what YOU like and what will make you love YOUR kitchen!!! Here is a link that might be useful: Sabjimata's kitchen details...See MoreShould I be concerned about these cabinets?
Comments (13)As others have said, the doors haven't been adjusted yet. But keep in mind, the there will always be a small gap between the face frame and the door and the face frame and the drawer front. Typically they sit off the face from 3/16" to 1/4". You'll notice that the doors and drawers are fitted with silicone stem bumpers. They lesson the sound of a closing door or drawer. But they also keep the doors and drawer fronts proud of the cabinet face frame. Look along the edge of the drawers in the picture below. You'll see that there's a gap. That's there by design and is normal....See MoreShould I be concerned about AC leaking refrigerant & oil?
Comments (277)I'm not a big fan of oversizing the coil to increase SEER (that's why they do it) as it actually impairs dehumidification. It's not necessarily done to increase SEER, but to reach the rating that AHRI matches the equipment to. Ironically, this rating is just a number that if you use a certain set of equipment parts and pieces you 'should' hit the SEER number. It doesn't mean you 'will' hit the number, because proper installation is always the elusive variant. No matter how much or how little you want to realize this fact. A nice pretty install picture doesn't mean the system was 'installed properly'. But people, God bless them, don't look at things this way. They say 'company A' uses xyz brand and 'company B' uses xyz brand so it's the same brand so the outcome will be the same as in a 'properly installed HVAC system'. However, it doesn't work this way in the real world. You're not buying a toaster. Having a larger coil does not necessarily hurt dehumidification either. The whole purpose of dehumidification is removal of water from the air. A larger coil has more surface area in which to ring moisture from the air. BUT, the difference is proper to improper. As if there are condensate draining problems with the said coil, it can reintroduce the condensate (humidity) from the air that was removed back into the air from whence it came. So if this thread is good for anything, it's to show that what I mention repeatedly about 'proper' versus 'improper' goes much farther than most people understand. ---------------------------------------------- Deb, hopefully this time you get what you paid for. Good luck....See MoreAmy C
