Please provide some more information about yourself and how you use your kitchen. How many people live here? How often do you cook? What kind of food? What's your style? How long do you plan to live in this home?

I would replace the OTR microwave with a vent hood. I might get a stainless sink and new pendant lights. I might have the cabinets painted to eliminate the pink.

But that's me.

For now, just the two of us. I don't have any specific cooking requirements and our needs are simple. I have an open floorplan (the living room is behind me in this photo) so I certainly value the aesthetics quite a bit. Apparently green paint makes the cabinet color pop a bit so I wonder if it will look different with different colored countertops and paint. Lighting can also change the look. Maybe wishful thinking?

You'd be wise to cancel the LG orders; they are crap. Your next dilemma is likely to be about the poor quality appliances and customer service. I'd be happy with that kitchen and would spend more of the budget for top quality fridge and DW (Houzzers love Bosch DWs.)

I would spend the cab money on extending the wood flooring into the kitchen. To me, the clash between flooring and cabinets is glaring. People smarter than me can give you good advice on your counters and backsplash. I think you could have a really nice change if you did that.

I think the green walls are accentuating the pink of the cabinets. I'd change the wall color and do soapstone countertops.

You don't have to have wood floor in the kitchen if you don't want to.

I am a very messy cook and could never have wood in the kitchen.

At the same time, I would never have an open kitchen either!

I do think you need a proper vent hood over the cooktop and find another place for your microwave, even if it means re-jiggering your cabinets.

Are your cabinets solid wood?

You need an opinion from someone who knows more than I if the kitchen cabinets are really quality.

If so, maybe it is worth it to paint them, because painting kitchen cabinets requires a special type of job by someone experienced with this (it is not like painting a wall, and is very costly.

A large single bowl sink is a great idea.

I don't know about stainless, and whether or not they dent easily, and how much you drop things.

I don't know how old you are and if you have household help and how careless they are.

The space over cabinets is a bête noire of mine. See if you can get some sort of molding to close it. The thought of all that dust drifting down over food, horrors, and who wants to be climbing up to dust up there.

If you want, since you have the space, you could extend cabinetry that matches into your dining area where that bakers rack is. That cabinetry would only be lower cabinetry and would allow you to put things there that you don't use every day, and serving pieces, etc.

That would allow you have open counters in the kitchen so you don't have to clear the decks to roll out dough, etc and it is more visually restful.

Also, that works as a buffet for dinners, because you can use a stone top serve from it, even put hot dishes on it, though trivets are advised.

If you plan, you can rig up outlets, or grommets with holes for cords to outlets on the back surface for hot trays, crock pots if you serve stews, etc.

For that area where you have the vent a clever cabinetmaker can make the bottom space of the cabinet with a grill like a radiatior has painted to match the cabinet.

You might want to paint the dining area.

I don't see how the paint in the dining area work with the kitchen cabinets.

It might be a good idea to engage the service of a NKBA certified kitchen designer who is experienced and recommended.

Have you decided what material you want your counters to be? And what material the sink will be? White with a yellow undertone in it might help with the pink in the cabinets.
