Comments (1)Hi Marthasdream, I know I've seen you over in On-Topic discussions. I hope you reposted this over there. If not, please do so!! I promise you're not being ignored. Most of us just don't look in Gallery very often. If you look in the center, just above the list of topics, you'll see the links between On-Topic discussions, off-topic conversations, and gallery....See MoreNeed kitchen design help - can't take ugly kitchen anymore
Comments (18)Why are you replacing with triple sliding with double (not single)? I am you have thought through this but.... What if you replaced it with standard single door with large glass area (since you have decided to bite the bullet and replace door and spend the money).... I think this will be fine since you have access to the "deck" from the sliding door in the living room. So you still have double access to the deck. Sliding double door versus single door has the exact same access width. The only difference is the amount of light coming in. I think you have enough light that you can do this. I would not do any uppers between the frig and sink to open up the room a little. You could move the frig to that wall, so you have frig, sink, then range on the L going from left to right. This will give you more landing around the stove. I think you will still have enough room for a table in the eating area. Visually, if you are running the cabinets to the ceiling, you need trim that is as wide if not slightly wider than the stiles of the cabinets. Even if the crown is simple in detail, you still need a little more "weight" to balance the cabinets than what is drawn. If you want more modern clean line look (which would not look good with your 6 panel doors), then you can use slab or very plain doors with minimal trim....See MoreHelp!! Comments (9)I tried a few different approaches, but I'll land here first. Corner cabinets don't really add much in this small space, so I treated it as an efficient galley style layout. To gain 4-5 more inches, in length I figured you could totally remove the walls between the kitchen and dining. Regardless of what layout you choose, don't crowd the back door too much. The National Kitchen and Bath Association recommends at least 18 inches of clear floor space on the knob side of an in swinging door and 60" of clear floor space into the room from the door jam. The 30" cabinets to the left of the fridge would be good for dishes. The 30 " cabinet between range and sink would be good for tools/pots/etc....See MoreDesign Inspiration and Help Needed for 1970's Home
Comments (15)Talk to your local flooring pro about loose lay vs glue down. Any movement whatsoever can wreak havoc on the click edges and there has been lots of failures with that. Texas has a lot of foundation movement (good that you’ve taken care of it as we had to do that as well in Richardson where we lived). You may want to explore glue down again for this reason….I’d vote fireplace redo along with floors and definitely leave the wall color as is. The floor colors suggested so far go well with the overall home finish (I see medium warm brick outside). I also vote to carry the floor into the kitchen. Good luck!...See MoreCarly Tief
