White will probably not be ideal with your travertine floors or your dark appliances. Your cabinet door style is very dated, so refacing could be a good choice. What other colors do they offer? A warmer color is probably best with your floor.

Dark colours and the light fixture aside, that kitchen doesn't look particularly Tuscan to me. I wouldn't do with those floors but there should be other options. They would require painting all the cabinetry, though, not just replacing the doors.

Thats WAY to low of a price to be anythng quality. White is 100% the wrong choice. Fish out of water, gasping and dying in its environment that it doesnt belong in.

Live with what you have until you can afford a bigger budget change. Refacing should cost you at least 3x what you were quoted if you're getting quality labor or materisls. When you have a 4-5x bigger budget, use some of it to hire a good kitchen designer. First.

@latifolia they should be able to get any color. Do you have one in mind? warm & light makes me think of orange/pink hues, which doesn’t seem appealing

@jmm1837 The whole house is very tuscan. Other angles of the kitchen would show archways / stained wood doors & exposed beams. Travertine floors too.

I mentioned it as context to avoid styles that would clash.

Yes, all the cabinetry/face frame will get painted as well. Trying to figure out a color tone & door style that would fit with the other elements

Are you sure the house isn't Spanish Colonial because arches, dark wood and exposed beams were more in that genre and your doors aren't really what used to be called Tuscan but are more faux Spanish.

I don't think your home is vintage authentic architecturally anything but your kitchen doesn't resemble any of the "faux" Tuscan kitchens I have seen that were done 15 or so years ago.

Not that it matters becaue most homes aren't authentically a specific style. However I do think that the quote for refacing is low considering you have a fairly large kitchen. Before proceeding, I would research further to ensure that you aren't getting an unrealistically low bid.

I do agree that white would be wrong and that you need to go with warm tones of cream or off white and not cool white.

I think I'd change the hardware. get some good looking floor runners, maybe do a backsplash and then , as you alluded to : plan the full remodel when the time is appropriate for you...I think the layout is just okay.... the whole side of the circular counter isnt used for seating...the stools in use essentially are in a walkway......the best layout probably is yet to be determined ...... The work zone is so long and stretched out......I'd want to make certain aspects more functional and enhance seating in some way. Start planning in a couple years and execute a project in 5-7 yrs .

IMO wait until you can do this right. IMO shaker cabiet doors do not suit the house and those cabinets might be OKAY but really all those base cabinets should be drawers and that lighting would be the first step into a better looking space right now.How Spanish do you want ? Travertine is a nice flooring but it drives all the choices you make for the space and so think long and hard about how much you love the layout and function of this space before throwing 3.5K at it. I see issues with layout for sure

Are the cabinets painted dark brown now? I agree the quote is very low. Try getting another quote from someone who has done work in your neighborhood.

For colors, pick a warm off white that coordinates with your beautiful floors. Pick up the "favorite whites" brochure with paint chips from your local paint store.

Yeah, I would ask how they plan to paint the cabinets. That quote seems low for new doors and painting

Other posters are telling you that $3.5k seems strangely low for a refacing. To give you context, I was quoted $15k to reface my (smaller) kitchen with basic white laminate cabinet faces and doors. And that was 4 years ago, before Covid issues sent prices spiralling. I can't imagine what you would actually get for $3.5k.

On exceptionally low bids, just go low/no money down; you can't lose.

Can't lose? John F's cabinets appear to be in good condition. A $3.5k reface might look considerably worse than what he's got right now.
