Can I pull off a white shaker-style kitchen in an 80's house??
Comments (8)Stretchad, Do the kitchen the way you want. Once it's finished, you may look at the rest of the house with fresh eyes, and you may decide to redo the trim (I would replace rather than just paint). No matter which colour you choose for the kitchen, it's not going to make the 80's finish in the rest of the house go away. Unfortunately :>( We are doing a complete reno of a 70's house from top to bottom (not quite 3000 sq ft), and at the moment not one single room is untouched, ie every where is in disarray (well, except for the laundry room), if the ceiling hasn't been torn down, or the walls gutted, then the room is filled with boxes of flooring, new toilets to be installed, furniture and boxes from some other room being worked on... so I feel your pain! Really, if all you need to do is replace trim to update your whole house, you're laughing!...See MorePictures of high-gloss painted white shaker cabinets?
Comments (3)Someone else could probably answer this better than me, but I'm sure that spraying the lower gloss is another option. It's just not one of the options that was initially presented. I have no idea way you want a wood shade at all this IMO is a great spot to add some color instead with a nice roman shade in a patternt with color....See Morewhite shaker kitchen cabinets
Comments (33)@Nichole Campos does it matter to you if the bottoms of the upper panels are finished or are raw unpainted plywood? I have been wondering about that question ever since I learned you can pay extra to have the vendor finish the bottoms. There was a long discussion on a HOOUZZ post. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/1072657/should-the-underside-of-white-painted-semi-custom-upper-cabinets-be-fi I don't know if it would matter to you or not. I am curious to hear what you think. This from a person who never even knew finished bottoms on upper cabinets was even possible until I read this post....See MoreRelated Professionals
