Design Dilemma Furniture Home Decorating

Is that a big design NO?? Don’t love the idea of this, but might be our only option since otherwise it will be a wall opposite bay windows. Wouldn’t window reflection be annoying on TV? Please share any input or nice ideas for corner TV placement

I am having the same difficulty. I would like to put the fireplace in a corner (I personally don't like having the TV off to the side on the same wall. In theory I would like it on a corner, but my room is all windows on one side, an a straight wall that joins a hallway so I'm not sure how that would would. As for it being too high, my current plan is to get a very comtemporary low fireplace. Currently we have a similar set up and while the TV is a bit higher than I like it (maybe 6 or 8 inches) with it tilted downwards it has never felt uncomfortable. Here are some swivel chair ideas and I don’t think angled cabinet for TV would work well in your room. Normally, I would not recommend TV over fireplace but with your “lines of sight” in room and from kitchen area. You might be able to do a pull out swivel TV mount on left side of fireplace that could work. If you have a larger budget for the swivel chairs they come in swivel recliner/rocker too. Forgive the condition of the room, I am getting ready to paint. The living room is 12'x 20' . Beneath the windows is the heater & ac. Off to the side there is a door which leads into a bedroom. I have a chaise where the new couch will be, opposite of the credenza. I think it defines design dilemma :( My idea is rustic modern. Very simple. I have always had the tv in that corner but was wondering if I should go with putting it on the credenza. I just hate for the tv to be the "focal" point of the room. I am a renter so limited with that I can do. Thank you so much for responding & ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

oh, ok yeah-- I see that the corner is the best spot. the fireplace is too tall and the ceiling too low. a TV would look crammed up there, plus it would be very uncomfortable. if the couch is the favorite seat, then I think the viewing angle would be best if you mounted it flat on the wall, not the corner. try it out-- find a small piece of furniture in your house (or a crate) to temporarily move over there, and set the TV on it to see if you like the angle. due to the heat pump, is the radiator decommissioned? can you remove it? or if it's still working, consider a custom piece that covers it on the left while allowing ventilation. I feel like something wide would balance the space: or a small piece that fits directly under doesn't have to be a TV console. it could be a bookcase or cubbies. Like TV's in the corner. Agree, avoid placement where glare from windows would occur.

A decorator I was working with said "diagonal placement is great and severely underutilized"; that "too often people poorly place everything flat up against walls."

Please note this is not our furniture. Would prefer different layout but options might be limited.. not a big room. Any ideas for placement? Thanks so much!!

Make sure you get the height correct. There are brackets and cabinets for corner placement.

Thank you for editing! How’d you do that? Looks so teeny tiny lol but I see your point for viewing level. I think what bothers me is corner placement looks so small. Maybe if there was a corner built in going up to the ceiling… will search that. Thanks all!

If you measure I think you can install a larger screen in the room. That would make a big difference.

Would not go to the ceiling in that relatively small, and busy corner with windows on both sides.

Would use corner table and pull it a bit away from the wall, in front of drapes, like how you'd place a sofa in front of drapes (not smashed against the wall).

Darn- I do see it already looks better with larger TV though. Also, not our drapes. We will do neutral. But, I like to hang them high and wide so another good point to bring a corner piece of furniture forward so we could do so… couldn’t do that if a tall piece. Thank you!

Like placing TV next to windows, for view, so I can also easily look out windows when watching TV.

Maddielee- perhaps! I didn’t think of that, but then I wonder about couch placement! Not sure if I want to place couch in front of the bigger windows but maybe! Lots of planning ahead of me!
