Thanks all. You're making me feel much better. It's too late to back out, but if it's really awful, it can be slipcovered or even used in a sitting room upstairs. Seeing all the red sofas on Houzz helped, too. There are many red leather sofas out there, but I guess I haven't seen many in fabric this bright. I definitely don't want matchy-matchy, but like Chispa says, I think I'm just afraid of the big red sofa. It's 115". And I do feel like I've lost control but will find the area rug, tables, ottoman and other accessories when I'm on my own to pull it together. We wanted light, summery-looking furniture in this room but I wasn't thinking that bright, and it's very unusual for DH to think of anything except brown and black. I picked the pieces themselves based on sheer comfort. But thanks to you all, I slept better last night.

Here is the problem - you are looking for a paint color based on 2 inch square swatches compared to huge expanses of the colors already in your home. If you have a sample of the countertop that you can take outside - that it the ideal answer. If not you will need to make do with a gerry rigged method using the counter top in place. Get a large white sheet. Gather samples of the colors that must stay ( a drawer front, a sample of flooring that closely matches if an actual sample isn't available, a sample of the granite. Gather as many colors as you can from the neutral and heavily muted colors at the paint store. The lighting in the paint store will confuse your brain - pick up everything even if it doesn't seem good in the store - you may be suprised by what works when you get them home. If possible, take all the colors outside and cover a table with the white sheet. Lay the samples of the colors that must stay on the sheet and place one color sample at a time next to the colors that have to stay. If it works in natural daylight it will work anywhere. If it is not possible to take a sample outside cut a hole in the sheet and let a small section of the counter show through the hole in an area near a window. If that is not possible get a good lamp with a 5000k lightbulb and place the lamp so it shines on the hole in your sheet. You can limit the amount of any sample of the things that must stay by doing cutouts on the sheet. Typically one or two colors will feel right. This is going to be the hue you want. More than likely when you purchase a sample and paint a large section of wall it will read more vivid than the color you picked from a tiny sample. More space- more color. But you will know that you are in the right ball park and can use tools like EasyRGB to discover similar colors that are slighly less saturated. I worked with Miller Paint when I first discovered Devine. They were amazing. Don't know how they are today, as it has been 20 ish years ago. If I were in their service area I would work with them again in a heartbeat. Hope this helps narrow your choices :-)

Thank you - we’ve been going back a forth on this. I like the orange set ups too, especially if we can have the chairs (i just like the model very much and would like to find a ‘home’ for them). For blue set up with sofas facing each other, I think there would be around 80” between the sofas. Here’s a picture with current furniture and 80” between. (The tv-wall is 17” long, it looks smaller on the picture than it is. )

Since the TV is recessed, move the sofa forward a foot. Do consider building/purchasing an upholstered dining bench for the wall side(Wayfair has armless sofas at the right height) and keep table pushed over when you don't need it with chairs on the other side and either end. Upholstered chairs would give you seating you can pull into living area when you entertain. Here's with a round table and ghost chairs, which take up less visual space but aren't all that comfortable to sit on. You could also build a bench in the nook and along wall and order custom cushions from Etsy or elsewhere. Take a look at my banquette Ideabook for many ideas. I don't usually recommend them except for the kitchen since seating on the bench side isn't too comfortable, but you have a really tight space there. If you did it elegantly enough, you could have a beautiful, practical solution. But unpack first and see what other Commentors suggest.
