This is a warbler-smaller than a sparrow but try BirdJam (just Google it) & see if Black Throated Green Warbler might be it. It supposedly sounds like zee-zee-zee-zoo-zee or see-see-see-say-see. I can't think of anything else with that cadence. BirdJam is helpful but after I listen to a few I get mixed up. Susan

Robo, it sounds like you had fun! I missed this post so I'm glad you gave an update. Mayflowers, thank you so much for the colored salt jar idea. That can be one of the crafts I do with my grandsons next time we do a sleepover. My DGSs spent the night last night. I got out my markers, colored pencils, oil pastels, graphite pencils and an assortment of papers. While they were working on their drawings I was playing music. My oldest DGS asked if it was Beethoven. As soon as they were finished with their project they had out their iPads and were listening to Whip NaeNae. I videoed the oldest DGS doing the dance and we sent it and pictures of their artwork to Mom. Bedtime is still a problem with the boys, they are only fifteen months apart and they pick on each other unmercifully at bedtime. I'm going to order a cot bunk bed for them as the second queen size inflatable mattress bit the dust.

Love listening to a variety of music. Almost anything but headbanger or a few other types of music and I’ll eventually get around to listening to it. In my car, it’s usually Sirius or my own collection. In the house, we have a couple of portable Bose wireless speakers, so I can take one of those outside and listen to my music when I’m working in the yard and gardens. Inside, we have the sound system for the same, plus channels on Direct TV we can select. Right now I’m practicing Christmas choral music, and we have a practice CD. So I’m learning and memorizing my alto part to around 12 songs for a performance in mid-December. Tedious but worthwhile when it will all come together.

Amicus, your story about the one who was told they couldn't sing dredged up an episode I'd not thought about for over 60 years! As a child I had a neighbor kid who unfortunately had a voice just like the kid in the "Little Rascals" series called Froggie. Seriously, it was extreme. We went to Sunday school together and after that of course there was the church service. One day she told me to follow her and she headed for the seats in the choir up in front behind the Minister and she proceeded to belt out singing along on all the hymns, she knew all the words and didn't even have a hymnal. We couldn't have been moe than 7 or 8 years old. Well, the looks from all the people in the choir was classic shock and awe. I remember the Minister looking over quite a few times. This went on and nothing was said. The next Sunday she was all set to do it again and we were on our way up to the choir seats but suddenly (I don't know what because I was a kid) we weren't sitting up there like we did the previous Sunday. I don't know how I would have handled this as an adult, how in the world do you tell a little child that loves to sing they can't?? But really folks - it was so bad!
