Comments (13)Before my DH retired I would turn on the XM radio and listen to the 40's and 50's channels. Now that he is retired I do listen to them some time but not as often. When I am at the computer I listen to Hawaiian music through my headset. When in the car I always have my XM radio on. We hardly ever watch TV....See MoreListening to 1960's music.
Comments (15)brushworks, aside from Linda Ronstadt, it's interesting that while I'm a music hobbist, I haven't heard of those other names. For those of you who like Sirius, try Pandora or Slacker. For a free membership that only requires setting up a website log-in, you can customize numerous personal stations, each seeded with particular artists that you choose. Like, you can have a Paul Simon station, a Supremes station, a Guns n Roses station, etc., from which they will play songs of your choice plus others in the same style. As those songs are played, you can indicate - "I like this", or "Ban this group or song", so that over time, the song selection is highly customized. Pandora and Slacker will play over PCs, iPads and tablets, smartphones, apps on disk players and TVs, and other hardware like Sonos, etc., Two advantages over Sirius - 1) Sound is "broadcast" at a higher quality and so it sounds clearer and better. (compare music as it used to sound on an AM station to an FM station. Like that), and 2) Cheaper than Sirius, both are free. Comments (26)When I used to drive my kids around, i would listen to their music, and I really enjoyed hearing new artists. Now they drive themselves and I tend to listen to MSNBC which just makes my blood boil and there is nothing to hum afterward. But I do it anyway go figure. We use Spotify. I made a series of playlists by combing through greatests hits of all the decades since I was a teen. Then I made different combinations of them, a playlist for exercise, playlist for rides in the convertible, playlist for entertaining, dance music, favorite love songs, etc. I also have a few opera playlists. My fave background music is Billie Holiday. The problem with all of my music is I am not adding new artists since I don't get new input anymore. I try different Spotify playlists and that does mix it up a bit. I had to laugh at one Playlist on Spotify, titled "Middle Aged White Pop for Dinner Parties." I did actually use it for a Middle Aged Dinner Party (no race requirements) and we all liked it....See MoreAm I the only one still distancing?
Comments (152)Dr Fauci is a national treasure, widely admired by EVERYONE in the US and abroad in the medical field for his knowledge, insights and leadership for many decades and for having served many presidents of both parties. Going back to Ronald Reagan. He's declined promotions to higher office within the NIH, including to be the overall Director, because he thinks he can do more good where he is focusing on infectious diseases. He's served a career and one half in public service for the greater good, content with earning much less than he would have earned in a non-federal job. He's had his shoelaces tied together by the morons in power in Washington thinking only of themselves. He's been given the task of walking a tightrope, saying enough to get messages out to the public but not saying too much to get fired. Those who don't see the predicament are oblivious to the truth of what's been happening. Oops, the word "truth" pops up again.
