I love all the oldies, the memories come flooding back.

I can sing along with every one, come in at the exact time I should, and probably tell you who sang it. What did I have for lunch? Did I have lunch? Is that why I'm hungry now?

That's why we have sirius in our cars . I listen to 50's,60,'s 70, 's exclusively.

My playlist right now consists of Eva Cassidy, Jennifer Rush, Robin Beck, Glenn Mederios, and the unforgettable Linda Rondstadt.

I like the 50's and 60's too and have Sirius too.

brushworks, aside from Linda Ronstadt, it's interesting that while I'm a music hobbist, I haven't heard of those other names.

For those of you who like Sirius, try Pandora or Slacker. For a free membership that only requires setting up a website log-in, you can customize numerous personal stations, each seeded with particular artists that you choose. Like, you can have a Paul Simon station, a Supremes station, a Guns n Roses station, etc., from which they will play songs of your choice plus others in the same style. As those songs are played, you can indicate - "I like this", or "Ban this group or song", so that over time, the song selection is highly customized. Pandora and Slacker will play over PCs, iPads and tablets, smartphones, apps on disk players and TVs, and other hardware like Sonos, etc.,

Two advantages over Sirius -

1) Sound is "broadcast" at a higher quality and so it sounds clearer and better. (compare music as it used to sound on an AM station to an FM station. Like that), and

2) Cheaper than Sirius, both are free.

Another good choice is Spotify, which allows you to specifically pick individual songs to listen to and build a playlist that way.

We just came from a road trip and there's a local restaurant chain that hires very young, energetic waitstaff (and trains them properly, which in the SF Bay Area is a real rarity) but aims their bistros squarely at Boomers.

We love visiting their restaurants. Not only good food and service, but we get to hear Pete Seeger, Creedence, Rolling Stones, Beatles, and other greats over the sound systems!

Of course, hearing "our" music used for TV commercials makes one feel kinda old.....LOL!

Late 50's early 60's is MY kind of music!

Tongue-in-cheek

This old lady likes to play 40's music while remembering Big Bands, singers who did not undress or gyrate, glamorous ballrooms, romantic dance partners and all such things.

Seniorgal, I can even remove my Tongue-in-cheek and agree with you there whole heartedly. I don't watch Dancing With The Stars, because there is no real dancing going on. Young folks now don't know what they have missed, and that is sad.

When I'm at work I use my phone to stream Pandora radio and the station is "Turtles" radio. It plays songs mostly from the 60s, some 70s, but upbeat in the fashion of the Turtles. Everyone loves that station, it doesn't grate on your nerves. I prefer alternative rock in my real life.

brushworks, I gave those two artists a listen. They're similar in a way, each a female singing ballads. That's not a style I'm partial to but hey, music styles are very diverse and there's something for everyone.

The Turtles? That's fluffy, not much to find with them that's disagreeable or hard to listen to. I've seen them live a bunch of times (my wife's choice), most recently (as Flo and Eddie) just a few years ago. They're goofballs but I do like their songs. Playing them at work insures everyone is "Happy Together", eh?
