ooh, yes... the sound of silence - that reminds me....I'm going to put on some classic Simon & Garfunkel when working on some slabs this week. For the slabs I'm using big pieces of slate from my mom's old dug up 1950's patio (beautiful red, blue variants, and black/gray slate)....... Ive been creating these miniature landscapes with muck, driftwood, some accent rocks, some real small jinned Japanese Junipers, and yes - moss. Collecting wild moss for my bonsai - I always make sure that I collect moss from areas that have similar soil to my muck for easier adjusting. I also only collect moss where it gets good sun exposure - this way I know the moss is sun tollerant, doesn't demand shade, and won't burn in the sun. A problem I've had for years with moss, is that bonsai fertilizer burns my moss brown. I've used 10-10-10 slow release pellets, and have also used 10-10-10 liquid fertilizer. I have to stick the pellets in the soil deep and away from the moss, or if using liquid fetilizer I water the bonsai trees around and away from the moss. Anyone else have problems with fetilizing their bonsai & it killing/browning their moss? I'll go post my question at the moss forum - http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/crypto/

Before my DH retired I would turn on the XM radio and listen to the 40's and 50's channels. Now that he is retired I do listen to them some time but not as often. When I am at the computer I listen to Hawaiian music through my headset. When in the car I always have my XM radio on. We hardly ever watch TV.

I do not use iTunes or any Apple products. I still have my collection of CDs, but I have them stored in books so that they do not take up much space. I have ripped all my CDs (using Windows Media Player), and then I transfer the music I like best onto thumb drives that I take with me. I use a thumb drive at work and listen to music using Winamp (not my favorite program, but I've been using is for many years at work), and at home on my computer I use AIMP, another free program that I like better than Winamp. In the rest of the house, I plug a thumb drive into our sound system and listen to using through that, and in my car, I have a CD player (no USB port), and so I listen to MP3s that I have stored on a CD disc, which will hold quite a few. My brother got a new sound system for his truck that has a USB port, and so we use thumb drives for that. Neither my brother nor I like iTunes, and we both do sound editing on MP3s, which is easier to do than with iTunes. I refuse to buy anything from Apple. I do listen to the radio occasionally, as we have a good university station here in Westchester from Loyola Marymount: KXLU. The university is very close to the beach, and so a lot of the DJs sound like surfers and can be a bit ditzy, but I'm okay with that. My clock radio alarm is set to that station.

Love listening to a variety of music. Almost anything but headbanger or a few other types of music and I’ll eventually get around to listening to it. In my car, it’s usually Sirius or my own collection. In the house, we have a couple of portable Bose wireless speakers, so I can take one of those outside and listen to my music when I’m working in the yard and gardens. Inside, we have the sound system for the same, plus channels on Direct TV we can select. Right now I’m practicing Christmas choral music, and we have a practice CD. So I’m learning and memorizing my alto part to around 12 songs for a performance in mid-December. Tedious but worthwhile when it will all come together.

The music I'm listening to right now isn't from the internet. It's Peter White's new CD called "Confidential" and it is light jazz. Great music with no words and perfect for surfing the net. Am I showing my age?

I don't have any music on right now, but I listen to Bluegrass, and play 5-string banjo with several "jamm" bands every week! We have a great number of Bluegrass bands in the western end of Pennsylvania, and they are playing at several venues in the area, including W. Virginia, and Ohio! During the summer, our member supported bluegrass camp near Kittanning, Pa. has 3 weekend gatherings of musicians that come to play on stage, or jamm around the camp-fire, or just set around under the trees. We're always looking for new members to either come and listen, or join in the jamming fun!
i can't receive music online, as i'm on a phone line hook-up. but i get enough playing time with our weekly jamms!

Oh! Speaking of bluegrass (love that music!) the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival is a lot of fun too! It's in Guthrie, OK.

Bluegrass is my favorite too. A couple of years ago we went to a bluegrass festival & had to leave a day early. The campers were so close together some of our neighbors had to roll up their awnings so we could get out. Now brother that is too close!!

Count my vote for Bluegrass as well. We camp at a few festivals a year. The Huck Finn Festival in Calif. is a good one!

Eric Clapton Unplugged....sounds great!! My son has it on upstairs but it is coming through loud and clear. Love it.

Lynda, a few years ago I had the opportunity to go to an Eric Clapton concert in Philly! What an awesome musician! I always thought he was great but I left that concert knowing why he is considered one of the greatest guitarists ever! I was totally in awe of his talent!
