I would not do an accent wall at all. That fabric is very bold. I would just paint the walls white. Your son may want to put up posters at some time. I would also suggest putting up a large cork board or combination magnetic whiteboard/bulletin board for him where he can put up a calendar, notices, phone messages, photos, etc. I don't know what you did for his bedspread, but you can make some large throw pillows out the same fabric if you have any left.

What does the rest of the room look like? I might use a blue from the fabric--either the light blue or the royal blue--for the walls. Try Ben Moore Rocky Mountain Sky (2066-40) Big Country Blue (2066-30) Light Blue (2066-70) or bashful blue (2065-70). In a kids' room you can have fun and be bold and dramatic!

I would stick to a neutral color on the walls and let that fabric POP!

I'm debating ditching the curtains altogether so we have more options for wall color. He actually really wants green paint of some kind.

Aha - he likes green! So do I, that was always my fav color as a kid. how about just a light yellowy spring green then? No accent wall and keep it soft, be careful you dont go too much into electric acid green territory or you may risk eye damage (kidding) . It seems to me that if you and your son like the curtains, you have your color pallette right there, you just need to decide in what proportions. There's the old 60-30-10 rule - so you would need to decide what is your 60% (ie wall color ), what is your 30% ( floors/bedding?), what is your 10% (bright vivid accents -pillows, chairs, pictures? )

@Luna A. it's hard to give advice in a vacuum--can you post a couple of photos of the room and the curtains? Although my instinct would be to paint all the walls the same color. The photos that MarleneM posted are so happy and bright, why not go all out?

If your little boy likes green, perhaps go with that. I always tell the story of my daughter's selection of Lily Lavender for her bedroom when she was 9. My husband hated the color, but I said it's her room, she should have what she wants! Well she's 32, married, and expecting a baby now, and we just repainted the room last year. It was a small gesture to make a child happy.

I kinda like the suggestion of a slightly lighter shade of the spring green in the background of the curtains. It's a happy color to wake up to.

Kids change the color of the year pretty much yearly so keep the walls neutral unless you love painting. It is easy to change the bedding or the drapes. BTW a good plan is to post a pic and also some idea of how old your son is and did he choose the drapes , keep in mind this is not your room

What great fabric! I would paint 3 of the walls (including window wall) white, and paint one of the longest walls the green from the curtains.

I just painted two bedrooms with colours chosen by the children and was rather surprised how much I liked it, given most people say not to do accent walls. It really brightened up the room. Maybe try and find bedding (if you need it) before you chose the wall colour
