New Refrigerators taller, won't fit. Ideas?
Comments (24)I had a height problem with my new refrigerator. It fit the standard 36” wide cutout in the cabinetry, but the raised hinges on the newer refrigerator would not allow the cabinet doors above to open. The best solution would be getting or making a new bridge cabinet above the frige, and then cutting the existing matching cabinets doors to a shorter hieght. Quite a chore. Instead I just removed the cabinet hinge mounting screw and now use the doors as simply removable panels. Problem solved the lazy mans way....See MoreCan an Island w/seating realisticly fit in a 13 ft wide kitchen?
Comments (26)KitchenRedo2...Am I reading your measurements correctly? Cooktop wall cabinet run: 2' + 1" Aisle b/w cooktop wall & island: 5'1" Island: 2' + 1" + 4-1/2" knee wall + 1'6" overhang Aisle b/w island overhang & deck wall: 4'1" I come up with a kitchen that's 15'2-1/2" deep, not 13'10" ...OR... Does the 5'1" include the cabinets + 1" overhang? So you have a 36" aisle b/w the cooktop run & the island? One note about aisle space behind seats...in KitchenRedo2's kitchen, it doesn't look like the aisle behind her seats is a major thoroughfare to/from the rest of the house so 4' (48") is probably plenty (except maybe in the summer...but then everyone should be outside!) But in the case where an aisle is a major path through the kitchen to the rest of the house, I would highly recommend 54" to 60" (60" is better). That figures 24" of space taken from the aisle for someone actually seated at the island + 30" to 36" of room for someone to edge or walk past....See Morerefrigerator end panels flat or raised? Can I see pics. of yours?
Comments (9)I think it depends on the style of the rest of the kitchen. We put end panels on our peninsula ends and plan to do the same on the back. I was originally planning on also putting them on the ends of my upper cabs but my KD thought it might actually be overkill in our kitchen...we have a 10'6" x 15' in the main part plus another 6' on one wall (in front of the basement door) Our refrigerator has a wall on one side & cabs on the other, so I don't know what our KD would have suggested if there was no wall. I think she should would have suggested the panel b/c it faces the DR, but I'm not sure. Do you have any elevation drawings to post so we can see how it looks? My "gut" says to go with Live_Wire_Oak's recommendation! How many pictures do you have in PhotoBucket? I have over 900 pictures and no problems... [I did just upgrade (Wednesday) to Pro hoping for more options, but I had those pictures before that w/no problems.] How big are the pictures? If you go to your "Account Options" and look under "Account Dashboard" (on the right) it should tell you where you stand on the limits. You may just have pictures that are too big and therefore take up too much space... I reduce my pics to approx 550 x 500 before I upload them (reduce by %-age, not # to avoid distortion)....See MoreAnyone know of a Refrigerator w/INTERNAL Ice Maker situation INSIDE?
Comments (20)You should have the ice maker in the freezer, not the refrigerator. Many of the models with the refrigerator mounted ice makers have problems. Bosch makes a counter depth french door model with an internal ice maker. https://www.bosch-home.com/us/productslist/refrigerators/french-door/freestanding/B21CL81SNS?breadcrumb=frenchdoor_us. The two drawers are the freezer. This has two freezer doors for easier storage and retrieval. The ice maker is in the upper freezer (upper drawer) The also have units that are built-in and panel ready....See Moreflopsycat1
