The house I grew up in had that exact sink (or one very similar) but with legs. My best guess is that it was salvaged from another period house in Seattle or repurposed from the house lolauren researched. To me it looks a bit high sitting on that countertop as the left side drainboard of my Mom's sink was definitely already a full 36" high. If the pictured sink is sitting on a regular height counter (hard to tell from the photo but it looks like it a isn't a regulation height counter based on the edge of the counter visible to the left of the photo) it would be way to high for comfortable use. However, IMHO it's really too bad that sinks of this type are no longer on the market for a dedicated clean up sink. No modern sink I've ever used has beaten that one for ease or use and pure good looks. Thanks for sharing the photo.

I love your antique trunk - that will certainly help set a country/cottage mood. It's really useful too, since it can be a coffee table or a media stand, or a side table. Also interesting that your sofa back is sort of a reverse Camel back. If it works, I'd like to see the sofa on the wall without windows, so that the straight line of the window sill does not compete with the reverse curve. Your rug is pretty and colors are a close match to sofa, but it is rather small. Would it work in your entry way instead? Remember to make your bench cushion 4-5 inches thick. Right now the only pattern that you have is from the afghans. It will be easier to furnish the room after you introduce a pattern or two. I'd probably start with patterned draperies, because they'll have a big effect. Then you can either choose a subdued rug or layer more pattern. Same with the upholstery for your chairs. I love quilts on the wall, but I think your afghan would probably stretch out too much, so I'd continue to use them as throws instead. As others have suggested, take it slowly - you'll have a better result, and hopefully it's more enjoyable too.

No offense to AZ Wildcats, but Jock is way beyond starting small at this point! He is well into this process and has probably hit the limit. Jock, I think I was where you are now, back in 2005 when I tried to hire a designer or color consultant to work with. I knew an awful lot about what I liked, but I felt I needed the extra edge from a professional to get me the last few yards to the goal. As for finding someone to work with who has compatible style...you need to find someone who does not insert any of their own style into your process. That should be one of your first questions when interviewing people. Make sure you are not getting a look or a package or (heaven forbid) a formula. You need someone to help you find your home's own best design potential....a facilitator. I'm not sure where you live, but I would start with the IACC-NA.

If you want to see a guilty dog watch the videos of Denver the guilty dog. Omg they are so funny. He got famous for his YouTube videos and has been on some TV shows. There's no doubt they know, they have long term memory, and they know their name or the sound associated with it. My little one is very good but if there is a kleenex within reach and we are not in sight then it must be shredded immediately because kleenex are the debbil! They must be destroyed! She usually eats tiny bits too to decorate her poo. Lol We know what she has done because she always does it under the little table beside my husband's chair and that's where she goes to hide too. I have never raised a hand to my animals so I don't know what they are afraid of but it's very funny to see it. My Great Danes were terrified of the flyswatter, they of course never had one used on them, but they saw what happened to those bad bad wasps! I swear I knew immediately if there was a wasp in the house, the Danes would all go stampeding into the bedroom and hide. Sure enough I would see the wasp and out comes the dreaded flyswatter!
