Reno an unfinished laundry room, don't know where to start.

We have a partially unfinished basement in a townhome.
I'd love to finish the laundry room (even partially) so that it's more pleasant to be in.... But I don't even know where to start.
Things I'm thinking about :
- There are a lot of wires and pipes in this room.
-some of the wires and pipes in this room are shared with other units in the town home, so I would want to retain access to them incase something needed to be inspected. Thinking thinks like drop ceilings may be prefered over drywalling the ceiling.
- my laundry is on a sump. It emptys the water into the sink, then drains into the sump. Because of this I can't move the washing machine too far from its location.
I honestly don't know where to start and I'm just curious if anyone out there has any ideas of what they would start with?
TIA!
