Princess Anne and thick-leaved roses

Hi everyone,
Due to my unfavorable location for rose growing (zone 11, exposed windy rooftop by the sea), I have been asking around about the roses that might hold up the best.
In another thread, I got recommendations for rugosas, and thanks to those suggestions I am now eagerly awaiting a few bare root rugosas to experiment with. I will post updates about how they do in that thread!
I also contacted David Austin for advice. They recommended Princess Anne because of her leaf thickness. They said a rose with more "succulent-like" leaves would be my best bet to cope with the exposed conditions.
This is something I'm curious about experimenting with.
So it leads me to more questions!
For those of you who grow Princess Anne, does she really have noticeably thicker leaves?
Aside from Princess Anne, are there other roses that have thicker more "succulent-like" leaves than others?
Also, is there any type of fertilizer or trace mineral I could give my roses to boost leaf thickness?
