You have a couple of choices. If you want to convert to grommets, you could look into the kit, though I have never done this, and suspect it might be a bit pricey. You CAN buy a header stiffener in the drapery section of Joann's or a similar store, and I would think you would definately want to use it. A couple of other options: You could buy clip on rings. There is a small clip on the bottom of the ring, which clips to the top of the panel. Then the ring goes over the rod. Probably want to clip a ring every 4 inches or so along the top of each panel. If you want to hang them on rings,but don't want the look of the clips, here is an easy solution. Go to Joann's or some place similar and buy rings which have little metal eyelet-screws at the bottom of them. Unscrew each little eyelet-screw from the ring, and you will stitch it onto the back of the drapery, by hand, probably every four inches or so. You will stitch around the eyelet part. The stem end will be sticking straight up. Where the stem meets the eyelet -that part should be right a the top border of the panel. When you have stitched them all on, simply screw the rings on to all the eyelets and then hang the rings from the rod.

Are the grommets metal or plastic? I suppose you could go to the hardware or crafts store and look for a brush-on metallic paint in a color you like. You'd probably have to rough the metal up first with steel wool so the paint would adhere well. (If plastic--which today would not surprise me!--then look for a paint that says it will adhere to plastic.) Hope you're patient--you don't want to rush this painting process! I would not even consider trying to "replace" the grommets. Those things are typically not standardized in terms of size. And you will undoubtedly have difficulty trying to line the grommets over the holes unless you get ones that are much larger than the current ones. The only other option I can think of: Did these WTs come in lengths longer than the ones you purchased? Then I'd consider getting longer ones, flipping them upside down, cutting a few inches off of the new "bottom" so you lose the grommet edge, then hemming that part to finish it off. Then I'd go find a grommet kit to your liking and install the grommets on the new top edge of the drapery. You would have to search the Internet for grommet kits. I'm pretty sure that Joann's fabric store and similar sell some grommet kits, but I've not seen ones large enough for curtain rods there. At Hancock's I have seen some larger grommets, but those were plastic. I know that several people on this forum have found online sites for grommets.

First-- you can buy extra hook carriers so you are not limited to the number that come with the rods, though you probably won't need them. Second--For full drapes you will need 3x the width of the window or the width you want the finished drapes to be if you make them wider than the window. If you make five finger pleats you may need more. You will need the length you want the finished drapes to be plus an extra header width and a good sized hem. If they are full length drapes I usually put a 4 or 5 inch hem, but it depends on your material. Don't go too small or they look cheap. To make pinch pleats. You need header tape. Remove the selvedge edges from the sides. Put the header tape on the top end 1 1/2 inch in from the edge--stop 1 1/2 inch from the other edge and cut the tape. Fold the material down over the tape 1/2 inch and sew. Make a 1 inch hem on the sides. Now fold the tape down so the tape is enclosed in the material and pin. Now comes the measuring. I prefer a 3 finger pleat. If I want extra fullness I make the pleats closer together. You need 1 inch for each finger--a 3 finger pleat requires 3 inches. Measure 1 1/2 inches from the edge and make a mark. You can use chalk, sewing pencil or even a soft lead pencil. You don't need a big mark , just something you can see to mark where the pleat pocket is. For a 3 finger pleat with 2 inches between pleats---Measure the curtain across the top. Take off 6 inches--for ends and pleat at the end. Divide the remainder by 5 and see how it works out. You may have to increase or decrease the end measurement or make it 2 1/2 inches between pleats.now measure 3 inches and make a mark. Now mark the distance between the pleats 2, then 3 for pleat repeat across the top. Sew your pleat loops from top to bottom of thr tape so you have one big pleat. Now pleat the loop and finger press into 3-- 1/2 inch pleats and stitch across the bottom of the pleats at the bottom of the tape. If you want to make it easier then buy pleater tape that has strings you pull to pleat them. This makes very nice pleats all across the drape. The tighter you pull the strings the fuller the pleats. You sew it on flat and then pull the strings and tie them off. I suggest you get hooks that go the full length of the tape in both cases. Little hooks tend to make the tape fall forward on top and if you put them higher the rod shows. I also suggest that you look at rods that have wooden rings on top and clip on to the drapes. Thanks pal, 2pups, and olychick....I think you all gave me some good ideas. I'm going to proceed making the outer, decorative curtain with the large grommets and keep the liner inside using the small rings with ball bearings on them. Right now we have two curtains attached to the same set of rings so it didn't occur to me that most people probably won't even close the decorative one. Its main purpose is to add some color to the space as well as to hide the rather unattractive liner. I love the idea of adding a second panel to the other side but this is a very small bathroom; almost no room between the edge of the shower and the toilet, so having a curtain draped there wouldn't be very practical.
