Curtains: Rod Pocket or Rings?
Comments (20)One more reason to like the rings - with them, the top of the curtain sort of extends the line of the trim (see 1st picture), and together with the rod uncovered, creates a cleaner, stronger effect....See MoreI want to open & close sheer curtains behind grommet drapes
Comments (3)Grommeted curtains, unless the grommets are large compared to the rod, and sit on it loosely, are not that easy to open and close. The simplest option would be a rod pocket sheer, you would just need to make sure you have adequate clearance. However the thing about opening and closing these daily is that one one generally pulls on the curtain edge to open and close them. I think this gets them dirty in that spot unless you are very careful. They do make traverse rods with hooks and a pull rod to open and close them. Look at Country Curtains for an example. Comments (16)I think that the sage panels will look great. I had the black checked ones in my living room years ago. I hung them with the tailored valance and instantly wished that I had hung the panels only. I like a traditional look, but the valances made my home look more old-fashioned/country cottage than I wanted. I think you've made a great decision to try only panels first. If already mentioned, forgive me, but I recommend that you use a long curtain rod and extend it beyond the windows. Hang the panels against the wall to leave as much window space open as possible. I'm all for natural sunlight! If you need privacy in the evenings, then sheer panels underneath the panels could be used....See MoreCurtain rod help ... not a big problem
Comments (13)I really think dummy rods are strange looking. Curtains are supposed to cover windows...dummy rods throw out the pretense of that. I’d use a full rod and thick drapes that would look like they could fully cover the window. I remember a designer I worked with once told me things needed to look authentic and make sense. Dummy rods do neither....See Morejejvtr
