I just read this posting so I cannot vouch for the hint concerning safety for grout and tile. There are before and after pictures using Woolite Carpet Foaming cleaner: http://www.aberrysweetlife.com/2013/05/cleaning-tile-grout-with-carpet-cleaner.html I have cleaned floor tile grout that looked like various shades of black grout in an apartment my son rented...gross! The only thing that made any impact was straight laundry bleach and a scrub brush which was not healthy to breathe and, I suspect, not exactly good for the grout. However, if an owner was okay renting an apartment with white grout that was grimy black after the apartment had supposedly been cleaned, I was okay with getting it white again even if it took bleach. The place definitely looked better when he left than when he moved in.

Isn't that funny - one person's "stain" is another person's "gorgeous." Calacatta Gold isn't for everyone. canuk and autumn, it's great that you don't like it, most people can't afford it anyway. But for those of us, like carsonheim, who love it, nothing compares to its beauty. One thing's for sure, they are very different stones, both of them lovely, but very different stones. The slab you've shown is whiter than Carrara but similarly priced. You'll get less movement and more linearity from the bargain slab, but you can't go wrong either way.

The coffee table is fine since it will be separated by upholstered furniture in a different room. The kitchen table would work if your countertops are a solid white quartz and you are using upholstered chairs to soften the look. I wouldn't use the table if your countertops have any type of veining. You might consider a stained wood table with modern white chairs instead for some warmth, especially since your floors look like they are tile? You need some contrast from all white hard surfaces.

Good question about the tones of the Pure white - I don't have a sample of the Pure White (oops!) but I did look at it with my cabinets in the IKEA store (which obviously has very different lighting). The Pure white, was very very close to the cabinet color. The Frosty Carrina overall read a slightly cream - I do have a sample of Frosty Carrina, and in my kitchen it also reads slightly cream (and the website describes it as ivory).
