White Bathrooms: Fair Game for Every Design Style
Whether traditional marble rocks your world or romantic skirted vanity seats set your heart aflutter, there's a white bathroom for you

Houzz Contributor. After journalism school, I fell into decorating media and immediately discovered a new passion. An Atlanta native, I spent several years as an editor for Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine before making the leap to national publications and websites such as Houzz, Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Accents. I live in Birmingham, Alabama, with my husband and son, who’ve gotten used to coming home and finding the furniture rearranged. When I'm not dragging case goods across the floor, I enjoy good food and wine, college football, music of all kinds, and traveling.

We're finally moving forward with the master bathroom facelift we've been dreaming about since the moment we moved in. The days of peeling wallpaper, badly painted cabinets and ancient brass fixtures are numbered, and with luck, it won't be long before we're bathing, brushing and blow-drying in a sleek new space. Stay tuned for the big reveal down the road.
The hardest part, which I didn't anticipate, has been picking a color palette. Our adjoining bedroom is painted chamois yellow, and it's tough to find a hue that both works with it and doesn't make me look sick. So for now, I'm leaning toward classic white — fail-safe, timeless and always in good taste.
The greatest thing about white bathrooms: They look equally appropriate in every design style. I'm not sure yet whether I'll stick with my streamlined traditional look or go into totally new territory, but these eight outstanding baths will help me pick a direction.

The familiar furnishings, accents and surfaces in this space, right down to the flowered wallpaper, mark it as traditional. But its classic mien wouldn't be out of place in a preppy home either.
Contemporary forms (that stacked sink!) and plenty of open space drive the design here. The space feels of the moment, and that's what contemporary style is all about.
From the subway tile to the vintage-style fixtures and pedestal sink, this bath would fit right in with a cottage interior. Beadboard wainscoting would be another ideal choice.
This transitional bath blends classic lines and profiles with streamlined detailing and pared-down accents. It wouldn't look amiss in a traditional or contemporary home, but it has its own distinctive appeal.
Between the porthole window (nicely echoed by the round mirror) and the starfish accents, this space could only be coastal. This proves you don't have to pile on nautical accents to lend a breezy, beachy feel.
With mirrored sparkle, suave lighting and overtones of glamour, this bath radiates Hollywood Regency chic.
Stripped back to the bare essentials, this bath typifies minimalist decor. Where do you think they keep the toiletries?
Warm white tones, soft light and a sweetly skirted vanity seat? Feels romantic to me. All it needs is a vase of fresh flowers and a candle or two.

Does anyone have any good online U.S. sources for transitional single (hole) faucets and other bathroom plumbing fixtures? I live in Canada and the Google search engine continuously sends me to websites in the United Kingdom, Australia ... or good old Amazon. It is sooooooo annoying. :( You would think they would know their Geography. ;)
