1. Our harvest has been Very Good from Tree Trimming Left on the Curb for The City.

2. Hardwoods are our Targets and Oaks as Live and Red Oaks are Plentiful.

3. This Work requires Maintenance with Welding Involved as a good Hobby and Need.

4. My surplus of Arc Rods and Time is leading me to a Toaster Oven to heat then 30 Min @ 400 Deg to restore them.

5. My mistake was Downsizing and moving an Army Air Tight Shell Container after 50 years. I never lost a Rod until I Slowed.

My Oven Heated Arc Welding Electrodes X Moisture showed some improvements. I got very good Penertration with my Small Sears Arc Welder Attached. The Welds are too Bad to share due to my time vs the welding. My "Old 200 lb Lincoln did a Better Job before heating the Rods. I will expect to see some inprovement from them when I have more time X Tuning My Grill.

Working my recent Firewood Harvest went well today. I had a little Bradford Pear and Red Oak that I stayed in my Lifting limits on. Collecting the wood, I had my Electric Chainsaws in Mind. I intentionally collected wood below 8” in Diameter (Attached). This allowed me to use my Miter Saw with a 12” Carbide Blade to cut my Sticks 16” or shorter.

I promised My Body 12” Dia Sticks 16” Long are the most I will roll into my Truck, and out onto my splitter. I have Young Friends I trade labor with “in their Reasonable Limits”. They have Fired Up I’m A Little Slow (LOL)!

Thanks bayme and ewalk for sharing. IÂll settle and finish enough projects to get serious with software soon. Since retirement life has gotten harder with too many options (volunteering and friends needs). I value my time outside and my past, which is holding me close to Fishing, Firewood, BBQ/Smoking and Mechanics/Construction. These have been my interest vs vocation. I have not had many decent catches since 03Âs retirement (TX heat and droughts vs age, LOL). 2. Building grills and BBQ/Smoking/Grilling has been a challenge since 1970. 3. You are correct! The storm wood is typically hauled to the landfills at a charge for commercial trimmers. 37.50 per level pick-up load or by the cu ft on the same scale. A friend’s trimmer charged him 75.00 per Pick-up load (labor and dump fee). He challenged hauling the trimmings but after 2 free dumps, he turned it back over to the trimmer. Trimmer will charge less if you allow them to leave your monthly curb side allowed (8’ L X 6’ W X 4’ D). There is no demand for firewood in this area. Wood was trucked in in the 70s with approx 50% of the homes having fireplaces. I’ll guess 1 of 300 or less might be used on Holidays today vs 24-7 as a friend and I burn. No Interest, Too Much Work and Challenging Us that enjoy the values!!! The City will leave cut logs on curbs or have un-cut logs and mulch at designated locations (to enforce no cutting in the Parks). Without Trimmers curbside wood and a donated log splitter, I would think 1 cord or less would be My Close Find “Cut” and limit per season. BUT! If I would burn Hackberry as my 1st burn in approx1977-78 I feel there would be endless wood. I felt I learned that Hackberry was not worth the work due to no coals and burning quick as Pine wood. **What is your opinion of Hackberry as Firewood? I feel it might be a Regional Difference. Some have mentioned about not burning Pecan and Elm that I have no problems with “Well Seasoned” (No Popping Or Urine Smell). Since my attachment, I have worked another layer of wood on the 2 rows (right lower is green, (front and back). Plus, filled my 4’ X 7’ X 1.5’ deep Utility Trailer with green Pecan. I’m Resting, LOL!

I usually mix up a gallon at a time, sometimes two if it's a big job ahead. And never use metal gas cans, use plastic made specifically for petroleum. I use a 2 gal. motor oil jug. A short piece of rope from that jug to a gallon jug of chain oil. I take a small paint brush along to sweep around the gas and oil fill caps before opening, that really helps keep the sawdust and dirt out of tanks thus saving on problems with flow. You can take a clean wire with a bent hook, to fish the fuel line with filter out of the tank, to replace it yourself. If the oiler stops feeding, I open the screw fully open, most of the time the 'speck' will then pass when you rev up the motor and then reset the oiler. Ah, reminds me of the 'good old days'. :-) I used to have at least 3 years of firewood cut ahead of time so it would cure well. All my buildings including the house were built using native jack & Norway pine lumber from logs I hauled to the saw mill. Most of my cutting was done late winter. Here's a couple of pics of days past in the country (hope you don't mind). Poplar and Ash firewood ready to haul: Above: Wood curing on palets in the shed. (No the noose is for hoisting deer) lol. Below: Dry wood stacked near the house. Above: Pulling limbed pine trees to the landing. Logs ready for the mill. These made into rafters for the lean to. Lumber drying in the shed. New lean too ready for the steel sheeting. I still do some brushing/cutting around the 40 to keep the trails open and help my son get firewood but in a more limited fashion. Enjoy! :)

Are 22” Weed Eater Hedge Trimmers worth my time

The 2 of 3 Weed Eater Hedge Trimmers that I am keeping started fine this morning with some good Quick Whips (that my friend knew to give them). With use I feel the starting and using will get better. Hopefully I will be released in 2 months after 12 with a good bill of health. I hope they can show me I am fully fused. I will still question My Dr about the “Quick Whip Motion” as safe to start the Hedge Trimmer and Bouncing trying my Deer 92 30” Riding Mower. I will feel it’s safe to “Flip 12” Firewood onto my log splitter to quarter. Plus, to use my Electric Chainsaws as Needed to Clean-up Firewood hauled in with help. I had logs cut in half last winter to work in my 10 lbs limit that moved to 30 lbs above the head. I feel it was above 30 lbs to my waste but I stayed at 30 lbs and 6” dia. My friend that service small gas Engines harvest 4”-6”dia firewood. 12”-14” lengths wood for his small Fireplace and Cast Iron Chiminea. I have helped for wood up to 12” with him handling the 8-12”. We are ready for the winter with seasoned wood and wood seasoning…

Warming oven is a necessity , rods go bad quickly unless they are kept dry .

My assortments of old electrodes are giving me some “needed reminders” and good practice.

1. Experimenting is good but when you your body is changing, Go With Known Winners.

2. That is my Old Lincoln and 1/8”- 6013 or 1/8”-7011 on my level and needs.

3. Some old rods were stored better than I thought from the recent production w/o heating.

4. I am finding my Old Lincoln and 1/8” 6013 are giving me my best production as 99.9 of my experience have been.

5. I am Modifying My Project BBQ-Grill for who knows the # of times 1980 - Yesterday. The Top’s End View shows the tank it started from.

6. My goal is to enjoy some “Quick Cooking & Heat W Family “and Friends on the Patio and move it back to Car-Port Storage.

7. Recent Mods = Rem Grill's Rear Fire Box and Adding Temp Wheels X moving on Grass to Concrete. Looking at the Rear Fire Box's attachment I'll Re-think a Track to Add Tank x Slow Cooking (Plus, get the Off-Set Wheel to the correct side).

Not having a Dedicated Shop Cause too many Quick decisions...

Please share some tips From Your Experiences.

1. Do you feel the Offset Firebox is worth the trouble toward Longer Cooking/Smoking?

2. I am not getting the Quality Taste and Cooked Meats Past Pit Masters Produced.

3. Lazy-Me, I want to do as little as possible once it’s started, while I do some other work.

4. Due to not getting what I once did from the Professionals, I question my Taste Buds.

5. I find this issue “Mainly with Meats” vs. Vegetables and Sweets.
