Need some ideas to spruce up remodeled living room
Comments (26)Beautiful space. Like it much better without the built ins. Might try fewer throw pillows and consider adding some bold color on those you do use. Would not put a mirror or "the usual" framed art on or over the mantel -- you have a great piece over the sofa and the two would inevitably be compared. . Instead, consider choosing one item for that space ... and you can leave it blank until you find the perfect item. https://www.bradfordexchange.com/products/129682001_glorious-gathering-stained-glass-songbird-illuminated.html?cm_ven=GPS&cm_cat=Google%7CProductAds&cm_pla=12707962496%7C119331118214&cm_ite=129682001&gclid=CjwKCAjwq9mLBhB2EiwAuYdMtWtgWG5WsrntaOivNaG95ezHj4lXU5S6_QC-lhbMDwIpEKUAH2YigRoCKPIQAvD_BwE https://www.touchofclass.com/oak-hill-wall-art-sculpture-multi-metallic/p/AD59-001/?kc=NMFPFS2&code=NMF03&color=Multi%20Metallic&size=&tid=NMFPLA&gclid=CjwKCAjwq9mLBhB2EiwAuYdMtQV6rLGnA6uYqCbO66jJMAKJytA2UCMw4glC9VOsUpkPAAKoFb_CXhoCdKcQAvD_BwE A sturdy floor lamp/table combo -- perhaps black metal (w/glass and/or wood) but w/round table/shelf to coordinate with your coffee table -- and a large white shade could work in the corner left of the fireplace, add light and a shelf for your photograph and a place to set your eye glasses and/or a book. https://www.worldmarket.com/product/wood+and+black+metal+floor+lamp+with+table.do If you choose a tall floor lamp with a bottom shelf, you could add a heavy object to the bottom shelf for better weight balance. https://www.pricepulse.app/brightech-maxwell-modern-led-shelf-floor-lamp-skin_us_414314...See MoreNeed some ideas to help ground the exterior of my home
Comments (13)Y'all are awesome! So many great ideas 😊 @celery those renderings look amazing! I really like the stone work seeing it like that! @shadywillowfarm thanks for the reply! I definitely see your point with the plants hiding the stone work. The house had these giant planters and they were full of ants! Which is why I'm a bit hesitant putting them back in, but I do see your point... Either way I've got all winter to dream lol. Will post updates!...See MoreNeed some ideas for painting rough sawn beams
Comments (3)You'd have to remove all the bracing one at a time, to get a belt sander with a 20 grit on them, then work your way up the grit ladder, to paint those at all effectively. 5 gallons of paint each, at some point later, you’d give up and they’d still look like a 80’s spiky punk haircut. They were never ever meant to be exposed in a living space. Which is why you should do a dropped ceiling....See MoreHi! We just moved and I need some ideas for shallow yard, zone 5
Comments (12)I appreciate all your comments! @ Sigred - I did wonder about transplanting the arborvitae. I don’t love them where they are. The view from the kitchen windows is also quite strange where they are planted. Fence line does make more sense. I did transplant some at my last house and they did well. Well, my husband doesn’t want a pool after all so I will have to cross that off my list. I am thinking garden rooms! We do like to entertain, and I do plan on growing a a veggie garden off kitchen which is my side yard, actually just as deep! Thinking of a winding grass path giving the illusion that the yard may not be so shallow! Taking you from main area of back yard to shed and then veggie garden. @ gardengal48 - the local landscaper suggested Chanticleer Pear along fence line not frans fotaine. I noticed you are a big fan of the hornbeam and that pear trees go to seed and I don’t want that mess. I have 20 feet between deck/patio and fence line. Enough space? Anything you might recommend that is a bit more narrow and still won’t over power our ranch house?...See MoreWade Murphy
