IMO the room reads a neutral beige. Few accents with contrast. I would replace mirror with art and the tapestry needs to be bolder in color. Rug could be swapped out with one that adds splashes of your accent color(s). Personally I never excited about rooms without some fun contrast.

P.S. layer tomorrow lighting with lamps or perhaps semi flush light.

I like what you've done!! I agree, swap the mirror for some art. Spread the items on the mantle instead of having them clustered in the center. Find another spot for the greens on the coffee table - maybe to the left of the fireplace? I think they're too high for where they are now. I like the cream, rust, green color combo... but don't love the purple pillows. Great transformation!

thanks, i put in the mirror because i was indecisive about the art! do you think i should keep the vase for the coffee table and substitute greens for flowers? Im not sure why the pillows look so purple in that photo, theyre actually a burgundy-ish color. the light is so tricky in that room.

@jhoff86 - You're right, the pillows look much better in that light. And i get it - art is hard!! It took me years to find something for my own living room (which by the way doesn't look nearly as nice as yours!!) - I finally settled on a framed photo fromGray Malin - I love his work. Re: the greens on the coffee table - I just think they're too high, maybe swap for the greens on the mantle or flowers if they're lower.

You did a wonderful job. I think adding something like below on both sides of fireplace would cozy up the room and create a nice focal wall.

With your tapestry and color scheme, suggest replacing the burgundy cushions with textured, earthy ones that contain more shades from room, intermixed with your green ones.

I’d use a lower, more squat vase.

A mantle that is simple, elegant and the dark candlesticks work well with coffee table’s base.

Perhaps try putting something on either side of the fireplace and getting a piece of artwork for over the mantle.

Here's some instruction on visual weight at the mantel. Try placing the two containers of greenery; one on the hearth and the other below it on the floor on the right side. I think the tapestry is too large and too boring. Replace it with art that is no more than 75% of the sofa's width and hang it 5" above the sofa. The end table is the "off note" here. I would remove it and use two floor lamps to flank the sofa. Put a round table between the chairs and make sure the sofa is 12-18" from the coffee table so it can be useful for putting down a drink, etc.

Would dominate/ focus - if liked that is ok.

Would not put a mirror or "the usual" framed art on or over the mantel -- you have a great piece over the sofa and the two would inevitably be compared. . Instead, consider choosing one item for that space ... and you can leave it blank until you find the perfect item.
