My one claim to fame on this forum is that I was the one who introduced the Tapmaster here when we remodeled our kitchen in 2001. (So many GW readers bought them, the company sent me a box of chocolates.) Besides the things mentioned above, one thing I don't like about motion sensor faucets, especially in the kitchen, is that you can start the water running when you don't want it, when you're putting something into or taking something out of the sink. I would have a soggy sleeve all the time. And I could spoil things I was cooking sometimes, like, when I put a pot of something like a custard into a cold water bath in the sink, or just slow myself down, like if it were a colander full of something I was draining. And I would find it very annoying not to be able to use the sink during a power outage. Or is there an override of some sort? Also, does the Moen have a feature like the Tapmaster that allows you to lock it in the on position -- i.e., make the faucet act as if there were no Tapmaster? I find that very useful both when I am filling a big pot and when there are a lot of guests.

To operate a Euro model, turn your faucet handle to desired temperature and pressure. Leave it there. Push the foot lever to either side or to the front to make the water come out of the faucet. If you want to leave a big pot under the faucet to fill while you stir something behind you on the range, push the foot lever to the "locked" position with your foot. "Locked" is the farthermost position left or right. You'll feel the foot lever stick on whichever side you use. Water will continue to run if you walk away. Push the foot lever back to the center position to turn the faucet off. Walk away. Rinse. Repeat. To adjust the water temperature or pressure, turn the faucet handle to new temperature or pressure setting with the foot lever engaged or not engaged. To turn the Tapmaster off for "normal" faucet operation, move your faucet handle to the off position. Push the foot lever to the "locked" position. Faucet will now operate normally with only the handle controlling the water. You'd never know the Tapmaster was installed on the sink in this situation.

Has anyone used the Euro model yet? If so, how is it? The TapMaster site says you can push the lever in any direction...left, right, push in, pull out...and it will work. You're only limited to left/right if you want to lock it "on". Now that I finally installed my NeverMTs, I'm ready to tackle the TapMaster battle ($296 @ Conservastore)...I want one for my prep sink, at least. (I suspect once my DH sees how nice it is to use he'll want one on the cleanup sink as well...) So, any input on the Euro style is welcome! (The cabinet door one is out since I sometimes lean on the sink cabinet doors w/my knees while working at the sink.)

With the tapmaster you should be able to use any faucet. The bridge faucet I use has separate hot and cold water handles and a side spray. All play well together. Of course you have a choice of running faucet or side spray but not both together/same time. I believe there may be a mark or two on the kick toe molding. For the most part, our foot pedal moves right or left ( parallel with toe kick). A tip I picked up here - have the tapmaster pedal installed off-center from the sink. If centered with sink, It may not be as convenient to use tapmaster if you have to shift your body to use. Mine is off-center to the right of sink. Tapmaster is a favorite at our home.
