Mixture of - Tapmaster Euro 1775, your toe kick, and the Moen line

For those that own the lever operated one that gets installed in the toe kick area...does the constant use of this by your foot wear out the finish on your painted white toe kick? Trying to envision years of foot, sock, shoe rubbing against the toe kick.

What is those tubes that run from the valves to the operating mechanism...water, air, other? Any clue what makes them work, pressure?

Was thinking of doing the Moen line of motion sensors, until I stumbled on these things. Kind of a hard decision.

With the tapmaster you should be able to use any faucet. The bridge faucet I use has separate hot and cold water handles and a side spray. All play well together. Of course you have a choice of running faucet or side spray but not both together/same time.

I believe there may be a mark or two on the kick toe molding. For the most part, our foot pedal moves right or left ( parallel with toe kick).

A tip I picked up here - have the tapmaster pedal installed off-center from the sink. If centered with sink, It may not be as convenient to use tapmaster if you have to shift your body to use. Mine is off-center to the right of sink.

Tapmaster is a favorite at our home.

I have the lever one currently. Nobody's feet hit the toekick to use it. I had the kick plate in a previous kitchen (and like using it better). On that, you really don't have the chance to hit the toekick, but it's pretty big.

And come on, does anyone really see toekick wear? :P

My one claim to fame on this forum is that I was the one who introduced the Tapmaster here when we remodeled our kitchen in 2001. (So many GW readers bought them, the company sent me a box of chocolates.) Besides the things mentioned above, one thing I don't like about motion sensor faucets, especially in the kitchen, is that you can start the water running when you don't want it, when you're putting something into or taking something out of the sink. I would have a soggy sleeve all the time. And I could spoil things I was cooking sometimes, like, when I put a pot of something like a custard into a cold water bath in the sink, or just slow myself down, like if it were a colander full of something I was draining. And I would find it very annoying not to be able to use the sink during a power outage. Or is there an override of some sort? Also, does the Moen have a feature like the Tapmaster that allows you to lock it in the on position -- i.e., make the faucet act as if there were no Tapmaster? I find that very useful both when I am filling a big pot and when there are a lot of guests.

Tapmaster is an easy retrofit and usually goes in after the cabinet is in anyway. You just drill a hole in the toekick that gets covered by the pedal. You might need to fish the line through to a hole in the back of the cabinet for the neatest install but it's not bad to do in a new cabinet. (It would be gross to do that in my current nasty old cabinet which is why I haven't done it. Ewwwww.)

(Started new thread, should have added to this very helpful one). We find the foot lever is hidden under our standard toe kick right of center, it is easy to use and comfortable on bare feet. In my part of Florida, the cold water tap is rarely colder than 72 degrees, in summer it is closer to 80. I'm happy washing hands and produce and doing all other prep tasks, including light washing, with cold water only. So I saved a few bucks and had the tapmaster 1776 installed, after ascertaining that I could later use parts to convert it to a 1775 if it didn't work out. But it is working out great! I keep the (single) handle all the way over to "cold" and no water flows unless I "tap". If I wanted hot only, I could use the handle to get it. If I wanted a blend, I'd have to engage the tap and adjust the handle. The guy at conserve-a-store was happy to get the friendly and helpful folks from Canada on the phone when I called to inquire, and they all agreed it was worth a try. I'm enjoying this so much I may well need to get them for the cleanup sink and bathrooms.

I had the Tapmaster euro 1775 installed at my prep sink almost 3 years ago. To this day, I still consider it one of my favorite things about the kitchen. When I was planning my kitchen 5 years ago, the touchless faucet technology wasn't as good as today. I was afraid those faucets would fail over time or not work smoothly long-term. There is no sensor to fail on the Tapmaster. Plus, I fell in love with my Hansgrohe Talis faucet and couldn't warm up to the look of the touchless faucets. A Tapmaster can be put on any faucet you like so the aesthetic choices are much more open than with the Moen faucets. Buy either the Tapmaster or a motion faucet, not both. As far as the pulldown vs pullout, search around this site to find many threads on the debate. It's personal preference. I strongly prefer pulldowns as the motion feels more natural ergonomically to me, and I like that the water is directed down as you pull it out. Speaking of searching, you might also look for older Tapmaster threads. I'll link one below in which we discuss our models and some other good stuff. We don't wear shoes in the house and I sometimes used my slippered foot to move along the baseboard until I find the toe stick for the Tapmaster. I have a red dot on the cabinet door over the toe stick for my elderly mother who cannot so easily stand on one foot. I have gone down there once in a year to clean that white baseboard and it does not look dirtier than the other white baseboards that I have.

Our plumber installed it with the instructions that TM sent- he had never done one before. So I do not know how it works, but it works flawlessly. You will not regret it! You also have the freedom then to use whatever faucet you would like.
