Raise Freezer door

Purchased this freezer and found it had moisture issues, with droplets of water along the top of the inside of

door. tried the paper test and there was no resistance. Finally notice the door was down. I can lift it 1/4” or more. I put a 2x4 under the door and it worked to keep it in place. Can this door be adjusted and how?

You can see if there's an installation maqnual to download. You can check your owners manual for a service number. Possibly Tech Support can instruct you on how to adjust the door. Or determine if you need new hinges or other parts. Frigidaire is the named manufacturer. Find the serial and model number info for when you call. If you want to wing it you can prop the door up and examine the bolts used for the top hinge. Loosen them and see if the hinge can move.

Depending on how the hinges are designed, a nylon washer of suitable size could be placed on the bottom hinge pin to shim the door up a bit.

Thanks, stacey! Good point about being able to open the doors all the way. We are thinking about getting a counter-depth frig, so I definitely want a 36-wide to make up for the loss in depth. Anyone out there with a 36-wide single door frig? (I suppose this would include top freezers too) Is the door too big and heavy? Too much strain on the hinge? As far as French door refrigerators go, I am also wondering about having your door in the way of your countertop landing area. We will have a pantry cabinet, then refrigerator, then countertop. I wonder if it will be awkward to have the french door in the way. I guess the same would be true with a side-by-side, but I have never had one of those either. I am just so used to opening the frig with my left arm, grabbing what I want with my right and putting it on the countertop to my right. Those with french door frigs, do you always open both doors? I dont know if I like the idea of having to use both arms to open the frig. It's not that I'm THAT lazy, but it just feels odd. Any further input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This was also my concern. Plus I want a counterdepth refrigerator. There aren't many single door ones available, but I am waiting for the new KA V series single door counter depth, freezer door on the bottom to be out. Should be soon. I have talked to KA several times about it. Anyway the V series is replacing their T series and I saw the same model in the French door type and liked the freezer drawer layout and studiness better. I have a friend who hated her french door LG and had door gasket problems that reocurred so much that the the store took it back and she now has the single door freezer on the bottom. She likes that arrangement much better for the same reasons already mentioned--only open 1 door when putting something away. I just imagine going to it with a large pan that I can barely hold in one hand and then needing 2 arms to prop open the 2 french doors. I do prefer their look, but I'm in and out of the fridge too often to give up the convenience of 1 door. Anyone have the V series French Door by Kitchenaid?

"Sears is divesting themselves of that brand and will shortly no longer be carrying it. " That might be the spin, but I bet it's the other way around. Whirlpool is dropping back to only the obligated rebadged material until Sears finishes going down the tubes. Less risk to have inventory in their warehouses and stores. I believe they are on a Pay by Scan arrangement there. I may be out of date on that though.

Here are the instructions for installing the freezer's door. You could try @dadoes washer idea to raise the door.

What I’ve learned since posting is that Frigidaire has no serial number on record for this freezer sold by Home Depot. What I learned from a friend, who got down on the floor to see the lower hinge, is that the hinge is bent. He went to the trouble of cutting me numerous blocks of wood to support the hinge once it’s back in place. Moving on to raising and supporting the hinge to see if I still need plastic washers.
