Will this landscape plan repair the curb appeal after house addition?
Comments (113)Thanks Yardvaark. The original pic at top of thread was in mid construction so of course it was not welcoming -- very ugly it was (or perhaps you were referring to the original house with white siding that had overgrown burning bush that obscured the circle pavers). Either way the result is an improvement for sure. I am very glad we decided from the good advice on this thread not to do plantings around the circle entry courtyard as I like how open it is now with just a garden around the birch (future garden that is). emmarene, We are definitely still doing the glass railing around the deck over the garage. We just have not got that done yet. That will really finish off the outside....See MoreSecond story addition cost? any ideas on curb appeal?
Comments (6)IN your area the average cost per sq ft to buy is 115 while the listed average cost to add on with premimium grade finishes is 170 per sq ft. before living expense are taken into account. And talking from experience, expected square foot cost are up to 400 dollars off. So it is most likely easier and less expensive to move....See MoreNeed help with curb Appeal Garrison with 2 story addition
Comments (10)Houssaon, Thank you for the suggestion. I agree it wouldn’t have too much impact. The upstairs double hung windows are oddly spaced extra wide apart externally to fit on both sides of the bed in the upstairs MBR. Matching them would double up on the odd spacing and be somewhat costly and disruptive. The bay is southeast facing and brings in some nice light into the great room during the morning. A porch roof will create shade in late morning but should provide a better tie-in to the house....See MoreImprove curb appeal by adding front porch? What style do you see?
Comments (5)wondering if someone WANTED a crafstman style and did the brick work, and never added the roofline? It looks like an overhaul if you want to continue the porch style to include the pillars. It would also require removing the portico overhang that already exists. How much of an investment are you thinking??? If it were mine, and I was replacing shingles, soon, I would replace the roof with a taller pitch. at that time, I'd add the required porch roof to accomodate the existing pillars and create a so called craftsman style. Is it worth the effort and expense??? Is the brickwork stable enough to re use? Something to think about. with all that said, I'd remove the Bricks and build a nice composite deck, create a cute cottage look. You asked....See MoreAnna (6B/7A in MD)
