I was just gifted a free standingweber slate griddle. My back yard is a wind tunnell and looking for ideas on how to build it in. I also have a free standing gas weber grill that needs to be incorporated.

What would the minimum space between the griddle and grill that y'all recommend? With the smaller grill size I can get my two 24" counter spaces closer to 30" each. I dont actually do a ton of prepping outside. mostly will have raw ingredients ready to go on or a fourth sheet pan or 2 to bring a boston butt out on or foil it during a cook etc. i can see myself having maybe a platter of mise en place'ed ingredients for a wok cook or fried rice on griddle etc. thanks!

I have no idea why a griddle can crack granite but maybe I am not seeing what you are talking about so maybe post some pics of the items you are using. I think the fact that both things are sitting on a counter might be an issue maybe just go concrete for the counter or maybe slate set on a concrete base to be safe.

Do you need it to be so wide? You can't reach over and clean a 4' wide cabinet. You'll need a ladder or need to sit on the countertop. Our outdoor countertop gets dusty very quick and needs to be wiped down multiple times. How are you supporting the overhang as designed? What kind of counters are you planning? In lieu of the toe kick, could you make the entire counter counter height? That gives more space for cooking and for seating. I rarely see bar height counters. I strongly recommend incorporating as much storage as possible. We maximized our storage and still wish we had more.

If you want to build the grills into an out door kitchen, there are many ideas on line. Just google "outdoor kitchen". These can vbe simple or elaborate depending on budget. My first priority for your lot would be planting some trees in the back for much needed privacy and to break the wind.

I am not a privacy nut but that is too open for me and a cover for the BBQas would be nice . We have a Grill-zeebo like this we added lighting to it . We grill all winter in Canada.We used it to begin our outdoor kitchen my hubby does competion BBQso we have a Webber for BBQ and a larg e grill for other stuff and a 3 burner camp stove so we ended up with 2 of the grillzeebos . I think trees are great at controlling the wind if planted at the proper space and make sure they are trees that grow not to high sothey actuall work as wind beaks so no tall trunks .
