I need help accessorizing fireplace cabinets----pics---
Comments (11)Thank goodness for the home decorating forum. This site has been very helpful to me also. I have become much better at accessorizing over the years, because of looking at all sorts of books and magazines, and there are quite a few sites that will teach you the in's and out's of accessorizing (if you believe there's such a thing). What it does, it provides you with a basic understanding of tablescaping, or accessorizing. I feel it has helped me develop an eye for what works, and what doesn't. Just play with what you have until you feel good with what you've come up with. Sometimes you come up with something you like on the first try. Sometimes you have to just give up for the time being....See MoreEntry Hall Chest, (** 4 PICS **) which one do you like better?
Comments (58)parma42, thanks for the Blonde chuckle! Those furniture sites are addicting too.. I spend so much time there! I like the one you posted a link to as well, but now (I am such a nut) think I found another... and after really studying the space and playing with photoshop, I decided the bombe chest #3 is too bulky for the area, so I am ruling that out. My list is shrinking and once again think Les is correct on her thoughts. So, I found this one that is a console - but is a chest too. The size is right, color seems to compliment floors and other furniture.. not sure if the 'style' really flows with the other wood pieces (bTW - I don't like the dining room furniture. It is new - but darker and plainer then I would have picked for this home). Here is my newest find, which is similar to kmcg85 posted. I like the bottom shelf, and that it is also open, but yet has storage. It's simple, yet my dining toom furniture is very plain and simple....See MoreAccessorizing an entrance table
Comments (18)I went to the store and grabbed a couple of things. I am so horrible accessories and even worse with floral things. LOL. I will take pics of my finds asap. Justgottobeamom, thanks so much. I love pics of my gang and like to have them everywhere. I tried to place the plates on the lamp but it won't work. The base is too narrow and slanted. Renofan, so you think I should move the pics. Hmm...I will give it a go this afternoon when dh gets home. I make too many holes in the wall. LOL. I know he is going to fuss and say leave them alone. Men! I like the arrangement that you show. Otherwise, do you think any of my new items work? Bestyears, that does sound really fun. I picked up a blue pumpkin which ties into the blue ceiling. Actually my 7 yr old dd found it and wanted me to add it. I also found some other items that are more fall. Will post pics soon. I am sure I will change things out seasonally though. Ideefixe, funny you should ask. Up until now, the foyer has held all of our furniture from remodel rooms. LOL. We couldn't even use the door. Uggh! Now that those rooms are finished, I want to finish this room and have it look stunning like I know it can. (maybe someone else might have to decorate it though.) To answer your questions, yes, I was thinking of the basket to drop our keys in. We don't really have a problem dropping clutter when we come in so I don't worry too much about that. However it would look nicer to have a small basket for our cells and keys. I was thinking the vases could hold flowers. Oh, we have a mirror on the opposite wall with pegs that hold our dog leads, etc....See MoreAccessorizing entryway table
Comments (4)Your photos are very helpful. Thank you, Angelica. Here's what I would do with your entry table: 1.The mirror is a great idea. Z Gallerie has several good looking ones. You'll need to get a big one, at least 36" wide x about 48" high and hang it vertically (portrait position) in order to make the ceiling look higher. It looks like you have space for that size mirror, leaving 6" space between the console and the bottom of the mirror. Just to make sure, please tell us the measurement from the top of the console to the ceiling. 2. Then, a pair of tall, skinny lamps would look great. I'm not sold on the fountain idea as the water might splash onto the console and harm the finish. However, if that's not a problem, then you could center the fountain between the two lamps. I'd prefer to see a sizable item, not a fountain, in front of the mirror. Consider instead a statue or a large bowl, filled with seasonal objects....See MoreDave Tisdale
