Universal Studios in Orlando. Every ride seems to be a thrill ride & I don't care for those. There doesn't seem to be much else to do either.

I can't think of any state or city or town I wouldn't want to see again, even if just as a reminder.

Nothing I can think of that I wouldn't go back to again, but that may change soon.

We are going to Marseilles next week. Could be great, but its also developed quite a reputation for drugs, gangs guns, and violence.

I would never go back to Barcelona, or Rome. Be careful in Marseille - parts of it are sketchy,

I'm one of the few people I think who actually liked visiting Las Vegas, and we (extended family and friends) went annually for about 20 years. Haven't been since my brother died, but by the time I feel Covid safe, I might be ready to go again. We all found fun things to do there, even those that don't gamble.

I have travelled quite a bit and the only place I wouldn't want to go back to is Las Vegas. I've been about 7 times, all but once for work-related trade shows. Too hot, too crowded, expensive... just not my kind of place. t's really the only place I can think of that I wouldn't return to by choice. To each their own. When people say New Orleans, I wonder if they are thinking of Bourbon Street? I still dream of the food in New Orleans and the lovely old neighbourhoods that we walked through (far from the French Quarter.) The food, the music...I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Camden, NJ . What a horrible, depressing place. Sad news is I have to drive through it tomorrow, albeit on a highway, to give my son a lift to somewhere in South Jersey. Truth is, I dont like most of South Jersey. I like the beach. I dont mean the beach towns, I mean standing on the edge of the ocean, looking out.

Another place I would never go again is Wildwood, NJ. Oh yeah, and Atlantic City. If you think Las Vegas is sad, Atlantic City is ten times worse.

Lars, Croatia is lovely and I think you would enjoy it, especially the walks around Lake Plitvice and Krka. The scenery is gorgeous!

Exactly my feeling. The wild landscape and eco systems were being destroyed and replaced by suburbia. We stayed in a house backing onto a waterway which was the only one in the road to retain its mangroves around the dock. There were fish and crabs amongst the roots. The rest of the waterfront had been rendered sterile by concrete walls. Front yards had notices warning that the grass had been pesticide and herbicide treated. The wetland across the street was about to be developed. I felt uncomfortable at the consumption, waste and destruction all the time we were there.

I wondered if someone was going to say Atlantic City. I've never been but heard it's horrible.

One of my best friends coined a phrase about A.C. that made me giggle for hours - "A.C. is what would happen if Wal-Mart were a town."

Funny reading all the comments about AC and LV, I also hate Las Vegas, it's a concrete jungle. I'd be very happy never to see it again.

Lars I also suggest you might like Croatia, it is one of my favorite European countries I've visited.

The people are so friendly, it is pretty, I was surprised how much I loved it.

Barcelona is one city I would return to in a heartbeat, I love those kind of easy walkable cities.

Having lived in New Orleans and currently in New York, I know that although both cities cater to tourism, the best parts of both cities are really for the locals, where few tourists ever go. New Orleans especially -- if you don't have family, or at least friends who live there, you'll never truly be able to know the city.

Also, don't write off Florida until you've had a chance to visit the Keys. It's like nowhere else in the US.

There are many places I don't want to revisit because they have ceased to be the way I want to remember them. Cities that hadn't changed all that much for centuries are no longer 'human-sized'. They're immense -- and nearly interchangeable. I feel the same way about Chicago. "My" Chicago was swallowed up by a sprawl of high rises. I suppose earlier residents felt the same way when man-made land pushed Lake Shore Drive east into the lake, but nothing was built on it except the road.

Florida haters would enjoy the later episodes of Boardwalk Empire.

I agree with Toronto Vet about Scottsdale, but would add 'black helicopter believers' to the list of negatives. We once visited friends in Prescott, which is another 'Not our kind, dear' place.

I went to Palm Springs in May, and have to say that I didn't see anything appealing to it. It's desert, golf courses and shops. I felt like the people visiting just had too much time and money on their hands.

FWIW, like so many places in CA, the Palm Springs area has a fantastic state park - Mount San Jacinto.

And I enjoyed Las Vegas too. We stayed at the whimsical and colorful Wynn and saw a fabulous Cirque Du Soleil show.

I will never go to the Dominican Republic again. The people are lovely but the resorts are hit or miss and the poverty outside the resorts is depressing. In the Caribbean, I tend to prefer to hang out in the native rather than tourist areas but that can be dicey depending on the island or neighborhood.

I hate crowds so any place with crowds. I do however put on my brave big girl pants when I travel for business to dine at a great city restuarant, or when home attend a concert or sporting event or make our annual food shopping foray to the North End of Boston.

Stick me in the woods and I am happy.

Our grandson is 4 and DH has been talking about taking him to Disney World. I have been over 20 times as I used to live in FL in my 20's. I am dreading taking that trip due to the crowds.

I like the weather in FL. Love Key West for a quick trip but hate the concrete cookie cutter aspect of most of coastal FL. Ocala horse farm country is lovely.

I think I like Palm Springs better as a place to live (at least part time) than as a week-end vacation spot. The people who live there are really nice, and once you get away from Palm Canyon Drive, the traffic is extremely light. I also never get tired of looking at the mountains there. We've been on Mt San Jacinto many times, and Joshua Tree National Park is also very close, as is Anza Borrego State Park.

Some people (like me) love the desert, and some do not. There is definitely no shortage of sunshine all year, and I even like it in the summer.

I also like the MCM style that prevails there. I'm not fond of traditional or Victorian architecture, but I do like Spanish Colonial, after MCM.

We definitely plan also to go back to Las Vegas - mainly to see shows, but it has excellent restaurants that are much less expensive than the ones in L.A.

I agree about Atlantic City being bad. Our family has gone to Ocean City for decades and we can see AC from the boardwalk but only went up once many years ago and couldn't wait to leave.

I've only driven through Atlantic City. Just like the bear who went over the mountain, it was to see what I could see. I wasn't impressed.

Ages ago I spent 4 days at a business sponsored boondoggle just up the coast from there, at a place that was then a private club which has since been expanded and is now a hotel. The 3 M's - Muggy, Mosquitos, and Miserable. Part of the program one day was a golf event and I hoped the sea breezes on the golf course would make things more comfortable. Wrong. A number of holes abutted the coastal wetlands/tidal mud flats. It was overcast and very muggy. That was one miserable afternoon. Another place I'd never go back to.

Definitely some awesome food! And, like getting off of Palm Canyon Drive, be sure to get off the Strip in Las Vegas. There are some very interesting and fun things to do there that aren't part of the Strip hotels or the big venues, and some great restaurants without the Strip prices. And there are some great day trips (like to Valley of Fire State Park, or even the Skywalk at the west rim of the Grand Canyon).

That's the thing that I think is important to realize about places you visit... Go off the beaten path! My family's been in Nashville since the founding of Nashville and before (1796). I have never, nor would I ever, honky tonk. If you're doing the touristy things, you're doing it wrong.

Mount Charleston, just outside Las Vegas, is also very nice and will be much cooler, due to the altitude. I think it snowed when I was there once, and that was in the month of April or May.

Well, I don't know about that - I think there are some great touristy things that are worth seeing and doing, but you shouldn't do JUST the touristy things. And you should understand that touristy things will be crowded with tourists, and that can be OK for a few hours at a time, or even a whole day, if you know it and expect it. There's no shame in being a tourist from time to time, as long as you're a polite tourist ;)

Though, I will say this about my city, those who live here would never do any of the touristy things. I can't tell you the number of us that have never heard of Nashville hot chicken???? Congrats for Prince's Hot Chicken, but we'd never heard of it before Food Network. Not even the foodies.

rob333 True. Not that Pittsburgh is much a tourist destination, but most of the touristy things I rarely if ever do. One of the touristy destinations is Primanti Bros for their sandwich. Several Food Network cooks feathered the place. I only personally know one person who likes the sandwich. But they sure pull in the tourists and late night drunks.

That would be Pancake Pantry for it us. I mean, it's pancakes for goodness sakes'?! To us. They don't take reservations. Really?

Las Vegas isn't nearly as fun since the Liberace Museum closed. (altho I know there are some displays of his cars and other stuff at another location).

I grew up mostly in Northern NV and I guess that's why I can't stand Vegas. Not into casinos, except to eat their breakfasts, which are cheap and so good. I do miss truck stops in NV that have good breakfast that are pretty cheap. When I'd go home I always eat in a local, small casino in town for breakfast (Fallon).

I did have fun on a TDY in Vegas many years ago, but that was way before the strip build up. Back when you could drive from Arizona through downtown and not have to detour on a spaghetti bowl freeway to get up north. Saw Splash, went to Lake Mead, went out to see movies, to eat, etc...I even gambled in our motel casino that just opened up, one night. Opening night and won $2600 on the quarter poker machine. I took $20 with me. I rented a car for the rest of the TDY, which is how I got our little group to Lake Mead.

Went back a few years ago to see George Strait in concert and it was just annoying, not the concert, that was great. We stayed in a really nice looking hotel on their website and booking.com, at the end of the strip, got charged resort fees, even though their restaurant and other things on site were closed down. Food was far away but they didn't mention their restaurant would be closed so we had no idea. George and a dive cafe in a sketchy part of town, an Uber ride away, were the only good things about that trip. I would go back if it was the only place to see an older group/singer in concert...but that's the only reason. One of my brothers used to live there and I when I was stationed in Arizona, would drive up to his place to stay overnight before heading the rest of the way home. Vegas was the halfway point. Didn't really like it then either.

I'm not sure how this matters, everyone's family was somewhere before and after 1796.

"Touristy" is the adjective for things tourists frequently do. Locals do local things.

I suspect if you put a fence for 6 months around the parts of town that always seem crowded with out of town visitors misbehaving and/or drinking too much, passenger traffic at the airport would plummet. So, it is what it is.

When we went on our Caribbean cruise, I found all the islands we visited to be miserable holes once we left the beautiful beaches behind. I wouldn't want to go back to any of them.

I'm laughing that several people mention Fl and TX rather than cities/places. I wonder how these people got such negative feelings about such BIG, diverse states. I lived in NE FL for 10 years, then SE TX for 6 yrs. and now in Central FL for 10 years and thus, have traveled extensively in both states. I LOOOVE them both (grew up in OH and PA and also lived in LA, and did a LOT of TX travel, and CA and OR) but love FL more because of ALL the beaches. How do you dis an entire state? Especially one as big and diverse as TX?

My Biz, been through Texas many times, usually the northern part of the state. Went to boot camp in San Antonio in 1984 and went back to see my son graduate boot camp about 5 years ago. Not impressed at all. Most of the roads were torn up being worked on. In fact driving through the state to get there was miserable, extremely crappily maintained roads. Tumblin tumbleweeds for miles and miles. At least Nevada has mountains lol. Most of San Antonio was rundown. I have not stopped and spent time in most places, though. I did like El Paso some...but then talked to my daughter's boyfriend who is from Texas and he said it was extremely dangerous down there and he would never go there.

Florida is just too hot and humid. I do like Universal but would have to go in late Fall or Winter. I'm not a beach person so that may be why I don't care for it. I can't understand people who sit in the hot sun for hours, roasting and getting a massive headache. I also don't like swimming in the ocean. It's very annoying. Love to swim in a pool and semi like a lake but ocean waves just annoy the heck out of me. Then there are alligators, sink holes and Florida man. lol.

I'm returning to say that Florida is unrelentingly flat (except for those elevation changes provided by sink holes?) I think that applies to the entire state. I don't care for long stretches of flat.

Possibly because they've been to a lot of places in those big, diverse states. Or because they have other reasons for not liking the state, like the geography, politics, or state laws - as an example, I am uncomfortable in places where 'open carry' is not uncommon.

Nah, I'm really sure I don't want to honky-tonk or settle for boring pancakes. We're music city, and I'm happy to go to the Schermerhorn for a symphony, or take a jaunt to 3rd and Lindsley for blues. We've also been called the Athens of the South, and that, we still do well. But tourists don't tour our educational locales, do they? I'll stick to what is good about our city.

I do like a lot of touristy spots: ie, Las Vegas. We went to "Fly Away" & took a sky diving lesson. Toured the dam. Saw a couple of shows. Paid a helicopter to fly us over Lake Mead & around. Stayed in a room right above the erupting volcano. Caesars Fantasy Towers was awesome. People in costume handing you towels when you get out of the pool. ☺ Been 3 times. Florida, I'd go back. I'd like to dive w/ the manatees & there are a few ship wrecks to explore. Great Cuban food.

Hell Grand Cayman, I'd skip next time. ☺ Yes, that's a real place. The local, bad/barrio part of St Maarten, I would pass on. The local guy selling BBQ chicken out his kitchen window wasn't as good as the locals bragged. Mine was raw in the middle! ☺ (that's the trip where we arrived and our hotel had burned down. ha ha We couldn't understand why the taxi driver left us @ the airport & took the next fare when we told him where we were going.) Exuma Bahamas, Georgetown, was nasty on land, but GREAT diving if you just moor your yacht at sea on a coral reef mooring line, like our captain did...had FANTASTIC cayes!

I love Great Smokies National Park but will never stay in Gatlinburg again. The whole town is aimed at family entertainment and huge restaurants with cheap food, which is great if you have a large party with young kids. That's not us anymore, so no thank you!

I dont know.

If erupting volcanoes, the Eiffel Tower, indoor gondolas, fountain shows and a roller coaster are your thing, then you should go. If not, it’s still worth a day to check it out. I won’t be going back unless I go to that airport to get somewhere else.

I liked parts of Seattle. It's BoHo vibe was fun. I enjoyed the restaurants and the scenery. Bought a lot at the the Pike Market.

So Elmer won't see the need to question me....in 1973, a friend and I flew to Hartford, Conn. We rented a car and drove thru the New England States. In 1976 I drove to Minnesota to visit a friend. My husband flew up to drive back with me. We took the "scenic route" home...going through Ohio so I could visit a waterlily place near Cleveland. In 1977 and 78 I showed my fish in Canton, Ohio and again we drove home taking our time. In 1984 the waterlily society was formed and they had a symposium in a different state every year. I went to every state side one. Did not go to Asia or England.

As a teen, I traveled with my mother to Indiana and with my father to North Carolina. My husband was from Florida....been there and states in between several times. Worked in Louisiana. Went to Mississippi to buy a horse.

Forgot...in 1979 we drove to Teocaltiche, Mexico with a guy that worked for Jody. Spent a week with him and his family and flew back out of Guadalajara.

Oh....forgot another one. In 2002, I took the bus to Spring Valley, California to buy a car from my nephew, bought and sold cars. Hadn't seen him in many years and he sold me a nice Mercedes, and I drove it home.

guam! it's a beautiful island with very nice, considerate people for the most part but it was SO SO SOOO hot and muggy, even in november. we came home with my newborn grandson so it was worth 6 weeks away from home, seemingly endless hours in airplanes and missing home so much. but yeah, no chance i'd ever go back.
