Granite Installers installed wrong sink!
Comments (5)You'll probably like the new granite as much if not more over time. Trying to live with a "backwards" sink is not something you'll probably learn to love over time though! Be grateful they're not giving you a hard time about fixing it. If you're really worried, go check out the new granite slab and that might make you feel more comfortable....See MoreHELP!!! Island legs look wrong - granite install Monday 8AM
Comments (18)I just now found this thread and I hope everything has worked out for you ok. I've designed and built 100's of islands with 100% satisfied customers. The photo of your island is a bad design as far as the legs are concerned. The legs are one of the focal points of an island and putting them behind a valance makes the integrity of the leg look terrible, Some advice for all of you. Never use a GC to have anything to do with your kitchen but build the room. I've yet to meet a GC that was a kitchen designer and most of the ones I know want to go the cheapest route with "their" cabinet maker to make more profits off you. I work with GC's and they know to send the customer to me and leave the cabinetry and tops up to the client and myself. Be it noted that I still have to pay them a "finder's fee" for sending their client to me. It seems to me there was some not good communication between all parties involved which there can be to many parties involved in a kitchen design and the build of the kitchen. If possible please give us another photo of what your end results were and I think we all hope you got what you wanted....See Moresomethings wrong with my granite countertops
Comments (10)The counter top was not cut from the same slab I viewed. The fabricator said they had switched to a "different run" and needed to substitute. at the time I thought it was odd that I needed to drive several hours to view a slab only to have them do a last minute ( and I mean last minute) substitution. He sent a picture but it was difficult to judge. Another viewing would have meant another long trip to his shop and a delay that would mean we would have to move twice since we close on this house next week. I wasn't even sure why I made the first trip if he was just going to use the "current run" on hand anyway. I know I made a huge mistake allowing a substitution via e-mail but the fabricator came highly recommended by my KD and in all my years of looking at granite counter tops I have NEVER seen such a level of color deviation from a typical Venetian Gold slab. In my experience up to this point, i felt I could be happy with any Venetian Gold that fell within the normal range of color variation. I guess what I'm trying to determine is if they may have substituted a defective slab since the dark caramel color does not appear to be clear thru the stone. It looks as if someone smeared a brown glaze across the entire surface. It looks terrible against my white cabinets. It is heartbreaking since virtually every other part of the house has exceeded my expectations....See MoreBuilder installed wrong bathtub
Comments (57)I could be wrong (but I doubt it), but the 72" x 42" tub noted above, if properly installed, will take up more space than 72" x 42" (see installation guide). I suggest the OP first determine if a two person tub is a need or a desire. If it is a need, then she should seek advice for a solution from the "design architect" or a local licensed architect if the "design architect" is not licensed. From what I can tell from the fragment of the bathroom's floor plan provided, it is not designed as a bathroom fitting for such a grandiose tub. It appears that there was a communication failure in both directions....See Morepalimpsest
