The entire kitchen. Here’s a rough layout of the slabs and the counters. Backsplash needed above all counters.

Is there a possibility you could find a remnant piece to use and still use it as back splash. Id be upset if i couldnt get what I wanted over 2” of material. But I also wouldnt buy another slab. I had 1/2 slab left ended up using it in 3 places I was going to go cheaper on. Glad I did!

Id almost be willing to go with a 1” overhang instead of 1 1/2” just to sqeeze out the extra needed for bs. But im not a pro so dont know if they would recommend that.

Okay so sadly the problem is we end up needing an entire slab for the backsplash behind the stove, another whole slab for the backsplash behind the sink, 2 slabs for the counters and then have nothing left for the backsplash where the fridge is. In another jigsaw variation we had everything we need except the backsplash above the stove, or we had more seams behind the sink, or an uneven rise, or mismatched veining directions. Nothing worked without adding seams. We were already annoyed about having to buy a 4th slab because the measurements weren’t taken right, but then they told us we needed more even after that, and I’m just ready to move on. Now I need to figure out what tiles to use. We have mixed metal finishes (champagne bronze handles, brushed nickel faucet) and we mix warm and cool tones throughout the house. Don’t want grey. Don’t want white.

Oh and we were already down to 1.125” overhang 😓

I honestly think that it’s best if you just wait on the backsplash a bit.
Detaching yourself from the whole thing for a bit. And then in a few months get back into it.

I also think that if you started off wanting the matching backsplash and that’s the look you were going for, You should stay true to your gut. This isn’t the type of thing you will redo anytime soon. And you must love it. If it’s not in the budget right now to do everything that start with what you can.
Even if you do that bar area with a different backsplash to save... but go with the overall look you really wished for.

Here are some of my backsplash ideas.
Some of them are just color inspiration (I dislike the shape tile) but use your imagination. Choose what you like to narrow down the endless amount of options.
Some of them are very Funky (which I think is cool and can look great), but Not necessarily should they be used everywhere. So again, use your imagination...

For the entire kitchen. That’s why i suggested maybe going with your original plan and Doing the matching backsplash and the green in the coffee area.

Here are some blue options. I think these can work through the entire kitchen.

Plain ones. I personally love an all white.
Or blue :)
But no matter what you go with it’ll be gorgeous. You can always add your own personal touches when the space is complete
With towels, cookbooks, plants, candles, flowers, photos.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and send photos! We have raptor heads around the idea of a tile backsplash and we are feeling OK with it. I like that pale grayish green one. I wonder which one that is!
