Taking time to introduce myself
Comments (8)Welcome Abbeyjo; Nice of you to let us know you are around, thanks for all the info. I am not anyone's mother but I have some wonderful nieces and nephews that I love to death and they reciprocate. It is truly a wonderful thing. I have been gardening for years and have been a member of GW almost since the beginning. There have been many changes as you can see by the ease of posting, posting pictures and the forums. There is also the availability of information on plants, diseases, etc. The round robin forum seems to be taking the place of the "Garden Party" although that might still exist, I have not visited there in quite a while, if it does. The MNF group is "Make New Friends" which is open to anyone interested in any robin. Most of the other robins have become more accepting of new members but there was a time when new people were not as welcome so this group was started to allow people to experience a round robin without all kinds of rules. Each host/hostess picks a theme and makes their own rules. It is really lots of fun and the best time to join a robin is in the growing seasons because then you trade plants. Not sure where you are from but here in the great state of Maine we have four seasons, summer, almost winter, winter, barely winter. We love summer for obvious reasons. Come visit the MNF swap in progress and think about joining the August swap. Welcome again. diene...See MoreI was told to introduce myself....
Comments (41)Lyra, His grandparents are from Germany, They are a very German family whenever there are family get togethers, its German food. Which I don't mind. Its all good. They use a lot of venison meat too which I like becuase its very lean and when cooked right not gamey. So I can get German recipes. I'm also working on perfecting Black Forest Cake. I've made it twice now. Second was better, so hopefully by the 3rd(even though I swear to never make it again after each time :-D) It will be even better....See MoreMaybe it's time to introduce myself :-)
Comments (13)Hi Liz! (waves) I remember you from kitchens. Good to see you over here. Ask away - there is so much good advice on this forum and so many talented folks. I'm sure you'll get lots of inspiration. If you don't mind I'd like to introduce myself, as well. I've posted on here on and off over the years but usually hang out on the garden forums. We are empty nesters and had our home built 18 yrs. ago from our design. We wanted an old home but didn't want to move to the places where we could find one we liked, plus we fell in love with the acreage we have now so we ended up designing this house to look old and have been adding details toward that goal ever since. We have kitties, too, three of them. We love dogs as well but don't have one at the moment. The other three fur babies keep me busy enough for now. I'm working on my living room, too. I thought I had it all done years ago but as they say, things never stay the same. I'm having lots of fun with this new project after a two year diy kitchen project. : ) Diana...See MoreI should introduce myself again
Comments (9)Thanks everyone for the welcome. Two of our cats (1 was a stray who was pg and we kept one of her kittens)are outdoor cats so they stay home. They have a cat door into what was my shop and I have someone who comes by almost daily to check on them. The other cat, also a stray is not very people oriented. Since she has been rving she is getting a bit more mellow. Aside from DH and myself she usually is a black streak when someone comes. (out through the doggy door) She loves to get up on the dash and watch people walk by in the motor home. Then when I gets dark she wants to go out for a walk with the dogs. (all on a leash) I don't make beautiful ornaments like Jenni. Her work is fabulous. Currently I am making welcome signs to be framed for my sister and our 3 kids. One with a gingerbread couple, one santa and sleigh, one with snowmen and one with a penguin. Also doing towels with snowflakes made out of the recipients name. They are kind of cool. Decorating a couple of sweatshirts and a T-shirt for my sister and a chenille vest for my sister. Of course, these last things aren't embroidered. Also decorating candy bars with hats and scarves to look like snowmen for the GK. (Saw them on the craft forum) Speaking of GK I forgot to mention oldest DD has 3 stepchildren, 1 who we consider to be a GS. Long story short....their father has custody of him and doesn't see the other 2. We do love the dino center and the people who work there. We stopped by for 3 days last year to visit with everyone. I never thought for a second I would love sitting for 8 hours a day hunched over a bone wearing a mask, ear plugs and goggles removing the matrix (rock) away with air scribes (like mini jackhammers) I was given a Camarasaurus foot to work on....it took me over 5 40 hour weeks to clean. It was then displayed in the museum with a placque that said it had been prepped by me. That was really cool!!!! We have been to the Museum of the Rockies in Montana a couple of times. My GP lived in St. Pete. I lived there until I was 5... when we moved to Wa. I have cousins in the Brooksville area and in the north around DeFuniak Springs. I probably won't get to ornaments until after Christmas but I will be ahead of the game for next year, LOL.... I know they won't be as nice as yours Jenni but if I don't show them pics of yours, no one will know. hehehe I will post a pic when I do get done. I feel like I know so many of you. JoanMn emailed me when BonnyGranny passed away. I was halfway to HongKong on DH ship at the time. I am so glad to see how well Griff is doing. Sorry if this got too long. Thanks again for the welcome....See MoreRosie1949
