Why does the brick need painting?

@PPF. The right side of the house got damaged from the house fire. The new brick won't match the original brick on the other sides.

If the damage is just discolouration and not structural, it might be possible to power wash the brick on that side and not have to do anything to the rest of the house. But if that's not possible, make sure you use a brick stain or product like Romabio. Paint and brick are not friends.

I understand Romabio can color match their masonry paints and stains for you.

You might be able to use a series of stains, on the new brick, and get it to match well enough, that it wont be noticable. The pictures of the house with the brick, are much prettier than the pictures of it all painted white.

@Jennifer K The entire wall was fire damaged and had to be removed. I'm not sure if it can be stained to match well with the new brick.

IMO the fastest way usually do de value a home is to paint the brick. Could you show us a close up of the damage . This i looks like a lovely house so IMO no to painting the brick so I need pictures IMO none of the renderings shown improve the look of the house one bit

@Patricia Colwell Consulting The attached picture shows the damage. We had to get an entirely new wall on the right side of the house. The bricks were damaged from the fire. We wanted to keep the house as it currently is but the brick company no longer makes the brick pattern. That's why we now have to paint it.

Plus we're dealing with the insurance company and you know how that can be.

I don't agree that painting a house with the proper product meant for brick (Romabio) will devalue the house. Especially since your brick is multi-coloured and any attempt to match will look patchy.

Where I live, charcoal is a very common colour for re-painting brick.

Is there a house salvage company in your area? They often will have old, used brick that can match. Worth a try.

Also many older homes here have their brick or stone just on the front and wrapping around the corner a bit, with siding on the rest. Perhaps the contractor could take the brick left at the rear, rebuild it next to the window, and then just bring the upper story siding down in that small part. This might or might not be more costly than painting the entire house - but they are having to rebuild part of the wall anyway, so maybe not.

If you go with painting a light color, you really need the shutters. Otherwise it is like a face without eyebrows.

Then just be sure they use a paint meant for bricks, not an exterior paint meant for wood. Romabio is the one that is most often discussed on Houzz and people have had good results with it. It can be tinted. https://romabio.com/find-us/

With your dark gray roof I agree that white would look good. Keep the black shutters.
