Hideous new lights, burnt eyeballs - Pls HELP
Comments (6)Not knowing the specifics of the unit, I can't say exactly. But a few things that can help: Take out a bulb and replace it with a new bulb with a color temperature of around 2700k- that should warm up the light. Lower the wattage of the bulb. Find out the manufacturer and see if they have any filters/ lenses in their catalog that you can use. good luck....See MoreFix this hideous lighting
Comments (4)Fans and recessed lighting can be tricky. The fans can cause flickering shadows if they are between you and the light source. We had this combo in a former kitchen and it was very irritating. This isn't as much of a problem with your current fixtures because they are so long, sit slightly proud of the ceiling, and are fluorescent, which is a more diffused light. You may find you cannot use both the fans and the recessed light at the same line. or that you need to go with pendant lights instead of recessed, which would be a pretty odd look.....See MorePlease help my tiny hideous master bedroom!!
Comments (135)omg, I just got so happy with my bedroom and today the demo on the adjoining master bath began and it has all gone to hell so fast! I know it will all be worth it but holy cow, what an ungodly mess. The DUST, the dust!! I'm going to head out and buy five--ten more of those huge thin plastic drop cloths tomorrow first thing just to protect furniture in other rooms from all the dust. I doubt I could make those shades, but perhaps I will try... my mom is visiting this week and she is an absolute genius with a sewing machine. Maybe I'll see if she is game.:)...See MorePaint color nice in day, hideous at night... please help!
Comments (30)We have a similar (slightly greener) color in our bedroom, and it has a chameleon tendency too. (DH didn't even believe the bedroom and adjacent study were the same color when we first moved in---one room has two full walls of windows and the other just has two, so the effect is 100% different. But we confirmed it when we had to repaint some spots!) Lighting affected it a *lot* in our case----not only bulbs (interestingly, that improved when we switched to CFLs) but also placement of lights. (We had some electrical work done and added two small lamps when before there had been only the one overhead light---huge difference.) I would borrow lamps from some other rooms and play around with them to see what the effects are, and also try some other bulbs. (If you want to stick with CFLs, there are lots of options for "shades" of light that might solve the problem too. Our local ACE was okay with testing out bulbs and bringing them back for another room we were having trouble with---worth asking.) Good luck!...See Morebarbie08075
