IMO to keep it simple I would do the same color as the walls but keep in mind the layout needs to be carefully thought out or the whole wall will make you crazy with arranging furniture .since you bed is not centered on the wall it creates issues with layout of a pattern . I would like to see bedding with the Beach glass color in it too. You also need much taller lamps and with that upholstered head board amuch nicer finish on the blanket box too

The finish on the blanket box is non-negotiable - it's a feather painted box that belonged to great-great grandparents. Mom said "no", haha. It may not be staying in this room long term though.

The pattern is the struggle, it's such an awkward room to put furniture in - this is literally the only wall that it was logical to put the bed on. I'll probably go with beach glass colored sheets and a throw in the long run but these are the early days - I've been working to repair issues in the older portion of the house that needed to be addressed first. I've been considering wall-mounted sconces instead of table top lamps.

Another way to change the visual wonkiness would be to install crown molding all the way around at the level where ceiling and wall meet on the right. Paint the wall above the crown in the color of the ceiling. This is not vaulted, but gives you an idea of how you can lower the visual with crown and color change to give a new definition of where the ceiling is.

I would paint the ceiling the same color as the walls to make its shape less noticable.

Since the space seems to be pretty narrow, I wonder if something with horizontal lines rather than vertical would work better.

Opposite end, don’t mind the piles of clothes - they’re getting donated this weekend! The dresser will be leaving and an electric fireplace with bookshelf ends that spans the distance between the wall and door will take its place. Tv and some art above.

@decoenthusiaste - I’ve seen the crown molding trick but I’m not a fan of it for this room as I’d have to do it on all four walls and I think it would look odd. It would interfere with the curtain rod on the only window in the space.

We didn't see the window. Was hoping for a space to do something like this.

100% agree with @mmartinlozano - paint the ceiling the same color as the walls. But just the sloped part - the whole thing. The color change emphasizes the angles. And if you do the judges panels they should also be the wall color.

@mick50 - I did think of doing it that way but wasn’t sure it would play nicely with the angles in the room.

I like Beach Glass, your choice of wall color. Is it much lighter than what is on the walls now? I can tell. But, I am follow up on three previous suggestions.

The first one was to paint everything over the height of the window wall, white like the ceiling. I did a mock-up.

The second is to paint the entire room, ceiling and all, Beach Glass.

The third one is to paint the judges panel (only applied to the height of the window wall) white and the wall above it Brach Glass.

1. This is supposed to be the walls portion over the height of the window wall painted white like the ceiling,

2. The entire room, ceiling and all, Beach Glass.

3. the judges panel white and the top of the wall Beach Grass.

I've been eyeing some of the 3D wall panels for my spare room.

Although you have already painted, another idea would be to have the room all white with the board and battan as the blue color (squared off with the lowest wall height) and then also possibly the wood trim.

Or painting ceiling also the blue color and then adding colir into your bedding and possible rug.

Last thought, ignore the ceiling shape and add a curved detail centered for the bed with a pattern or color.

@houssaon - haven’t painted yet! Beach glass is lighter than what’s currently on the walls with a bit more green. I like option 3

@Jennifer Hogan - those are neat but too modern for the aesthetic I’m going for in this house.

@modpod - haven’t painted yet. The only trim in the room is baseboards/door/window casements. I’m concerned the room would look quite anemic being all white with one accent wall. I do agree it’s classic but as the room gets very low natural light I feel like it might look a bit like a hospital ward?

Once I remove the carpet and have the floors done I’ll be adding a large rug under the bed (to extend around it as well) with blues, greens, and creams. I might add a lighter throw and body pillow cover but bedding is set for now, just bought it and love it.

I’ll think about the curved option but feng shui discourages mirrors in bedrooms and I feel like adding more things (art/mirrors) above the bed will make the room feel even more lopsided than it already does.

I like option three, too. Option 1 is interesting, but I don't know how it would play out in real life. I am glad you are going lighter and really like Beach Glass.

Since the tall wall is the walkway and the room seems narrow, I would refrain from putting any art on it.

Hi Theresa! I can’t do photoshop but maybe someone here can help. Def feel your pain this is quite the challenge. Well, I’m going to throw another idea into the mix. When I look at the room I would make the wall behind the bed a wallpaper statement wall, rest of the room white or cream. Or the trim could be cream and walls white, to offset the whiteness. I think a cool light fixture from the slant might help break up the large wall. I’m getting the sense you like traditional, and are going with the era of the home? You may hate this light fixture, LOL but I think it’s neutral enough it would break up the wall. I found two wallpapers I had saved in my Pinterest that match the colors you mentioned above. The light fixture also comes in diff colors!

Judges paneling up to height of normal walls, painted same color as walls. Wall space above judges paneling painted ceiling color…it will feel airy,rather than weirdly off kilter.

@Julie Schmooley - this is a long term project as there are other things that need to be done/paid for first. I did consider wallpaper behind the headboard but I don’t think it’s right for my taste. I am trying to interpret the 1940s vintage of the house in my own lens.

I’m planning to put up judges paneling to the height of the shortest wall as shown in the photo. I’ve decided to change my wall color to Benjamin Moore Galapagos Turquoise for a more moody vibe. I’ll be painting the angled portion of the ceiling the same color as the vertical walls to create a more cozy atmosphere.

As far as the chandelier, there’s really not enough horizontal space to make a chandelier an option. I’m planning to do something like the wall mounted sconces in the photo. And a rug similar to this one. Dusty pink sheets from ikea that I fell in love with on my last trip. And a throw that pulls in multiple colors from my palette.
